OLVCS Updates
January 11, 2024
Dear OLVCS Parents and Friends,
It has been an exciting week, especially with the arrival of snow over the weekend, and our Flexible Instruction Day on Tuesday. With the Christmas season behind us we start, as crazy as this sounds, to prepare for next year. That preparation begins with enrollment.
On Sunday, January 28th at the 9:30 Mass we kick off Catholic Schools Week. After Mass we will have an Open House in the Preschool & ‘Big School’, with coffee and donuts, in the gym. If you know of a family that would be a good fit for OLVCS, invite them to Mass and/or the Open House. We would love to show them around and talk about our awesome school.
More information about Catholic Schools Week will be in the next Updates. In the meantime, think of a family that you could invite to the Open House. We look forward to seeing you all there.
Make it a Great Day!
Samantha

Youth Protection Lessons
- The Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown requires Youth Protection Lessons to be taught to all students, in schools and the CCD program. These age appropriate lessons focus on safety and empowerment.
- Our teachers will teach the lessons during the last two weeks of January. In accordance with diocesan policy, parents have the right to teach this material themselves and to opt their children out of this training.
- If you would like to opt your child out, please fill out the form and send it to the school by January 18th. If you opt your child out, they will come to the office while the lesson is being taught.
- To access the opt out form, please click here.

OLVCS Service Club - Spring 2024
Are you looking for a way that your children can give back to the community? Are you wanting them to do something worthwhile with your extra time? Join us for the OLVCS Service club!
- OLVCS Service club is open to both Middle School and K-5 students. Together we will work to come up with community projects that we are all passionate about. We will seek out needs within State College and work to fulfill those needs through this club. Whether it is working on a food drive or cleaning a local park, we will encourage our students to come up with ideas that they are passionate about and that make our community better.
- Middle School students will be able to fulfill their needed community service hours through the club, as well.
- All members will meet once a month on the last Wednesday of each month (for the most part) from 2:30-4pm. The dates will be 1/31, 2/28, 3/20 (Not 3/27 due to Easter Break), 4/24, 5/29. If they change at all we will send out an updated calendar.
- If parents are interested in volunteering to help with meetings, please let me know. Extra hands are always welcome!
- Space is limited, so sign up today!
