Frog Pond Elementary
Volume 2 23-24
Hello Frog Pond Families!
November is the perfect time of year to get outside and enjoy the chilly air and falling leaves. It’s a time when we vote, celebrate our Veterans and give thanks. Remember, school is closed the week of November 6th through November 10th.
Fall parent/teacher conferences are right around the corner. These days are ½ day student dismissal on December 6th (Evening), 7th (Evening), and the 8th (Afternoon). This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss their academic progress, ask questions or address concerns. I encourage every parent to attend if possible.
In closing, I would like to take this time to wish all of you a happy, healthy Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends.
Sincerely,
Thomas P. Denning

Mrs. Randall’s 6th Grade ELA STEP Classes are working on publishing the Frog Pond Press! It’s a newspaper publication written by 6th graders about our school and events happening here! Look for it after the break! Our soft deadline is 11/17, but we may be done sooner! We can’t wait to share it with everyone!
Mrs.Costello and Mrs. Randall's STEAM Class
The STEAM classes worked on quite a few engineering and design labs this month! We read "The Creepy Crayon" in 3rd grade and did stations of activities. 6th grade learned about science tools and were able to use a triple beam balance to complete a lab! 5th grade explored some forensic science and learned if they were very observant or not about the world around them! They also went punkin' chunkin' and created treat tossers. 4th grade learned about different types of bridges and were able to build their own! So much going on in our labs this month!

Learning about Terrapins
Diamondback Terrapins can live for 25 to 40 years in the wild, but only 1-2% make it to adulthood. 9 classrooms in Frog Pond this year are giving some a head start by keeping them in the classroom and learning about them until they are ready to be released. Right now, the turtles are tiny and barely eating. As they get older, their shells will harden, they will begin eating more, and they will get bigger and bigger! Check the newsletter every month for updates on how they are doing.
News From Student Government
Student government is working hard to plan the annual Veteran's Day Assembly and wrap up the cutest pet contest! Each sixth grade class elected 2 representatives to be a part of student council. They began meeting in October and have already planned out and started decorating for Veterans' Day! We are also making posters to sell 2024 Cutest Pet Calendars. Keep an eye out for lots of great ways to get the student government involved in the school and community!
Be Kind
The students in Ms. Martin, Ms. Barat, Mrs Truex, Mrs. Saunders,
Mr. Radice, Mrs. Glock, and Mrs. Farrelly’s classes met in the
lunchroom to work together to make a choose to be kind poster.
The students discussed ways to be kind and spread kindness
throughout the school. Each student colored in a section of the
poster making it unique. The poster will be hung in the hallway.
Learning About Nature
A naturalist, Chris Claus, guided Mrs. Sailer and Mr. DeWitt's class on a nature walk in Frog Pond School's backyard. We were so lucky to see the plant Virginia creeper, lots of acorns, a cherry tree, a moth, scrub pines, 2 different kinds of wasp galls, and a scarlet oak tree. Back in the classroom, Mr. Claus showed us raccoon, red fox, and skunk pelts. Mr. Claus answered lots of our questions in this unique and fun science lesson about our environment.
Lost and Found
Please remind your students to look for their lost items!
