Webster Weekly
February 9, 2024
WEbster Nation,
Nothing like ending the week with a little shake up. Hope everyone is okay after the mild earthquake this afternoon. It made a decent little rumble here on campus, but everyone is okay and school is in good shape.
Thanks again for your support this week with the wild weather situation. We appreciate your willingness to be adaptable when things like this occur. Big shout out to the PTA and some amazing parent volunteers who have done a phenomenal job with the Sustainable Book Fair. We are extending the times through tomorrow (11:00a-2:00p) during the 2nd Annual Webster Bowl. Speaking of which, I am excited to see you on campus for some football fun!
On behalf of the PTA, I want to thank those families that have stepped up to sponsor things around campus. Big shout outs to our current room sponsors:
the Rowe Family (Mrs. Murdock's and Mrs. Berman's Classroom)
the Roy and Ruchalski Family (Mrs. Cooper's Classroom)
the Clarkson Family (Mrs. Harris's Classroom)
the Nazemi Family (Ms. Lockwood)
the Flores Family (Mr. K)
the Vandevoort Family (Ms. Johnson's Classroom)
Have a beautiful weekend, friends!
Hope your team wins.
With gratitude,
- Tedd

Black History Month is a time to recognize and honor the many historical achievements and contributions of Black Americans. The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education adopted a resolution to further encourage the celebration of Black History Month throughout the District. For me personally, I believe that highlighting the human experience is something we should honor throughout the year and should not be condensed into four weeks in February.
At Webster, our educators are looking across the curriculum for opportunities to infuse a better understanding of the experiences and impacts of Black Americans within our culture. We are exploring music and literature, watching short films, researching historical figures, and exploring their many contributions to society. We hope you'll continue the conversation at home.
I'd like to introduce my step father, Adolphus William Wells. A veteran of both the Vietnam and Korean Wars, Bill served our country as a United States Marine. "Bill" (as we call him) has been a part of my family since my sister and brothers and I were very young. A graduate of UCLA, Bill spent the rest of his working life as a passionate and dedicated English teacher. This week, on February 6, he turned 91 years old. Happy Birthday, B-man, and thank you for all you have done for me and my family.

Developing strong character and valuable mindsets is essential. This remains a major focus at Webster. As we build community here on campus, at home, and across Malibu, we will continue to model the kind of behavior that promotes unity, kindness, and thoughtful problem solving. In addition, we will value these traits in others and recognize outstanding efforts.
