What's Up At The Nest...

Principal's Message

OMS Families,

It was another busy week at the nest. We learned from author Saadia Faruqi, enjoyed the 5th-grade evening band concert, and all grade levels attended a kindness refresher assembly with the principals. Please ask your child what they learned about kindness this week and have them brainstorm ways that they can be kind at school.

Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR)

The IAR testing window is March 11th-March 20th. Make-up testing will be completed the week after spring break, March 30th-April 3rd. Students in grades 3-5 will be taking this assessment in math and English/Language Arts. Please click here for additional information regarding the IAR test from our district assessment website.

Author Visit

Author Saadia Faruqi entertained our students at OMS this week. Students were excited to learn about her creative process for writing her Yasmin books which are based on the experiences of her own children at school. Thank you to our PTA for sponsoring her visit. Get Burbed Challenge!

Registration is open for the 9th Annual ABC/25 Get Burbed Challenge on April 25, 2020! Choose the 5K or 1 mile and walk or run with friends and neighbors who are coming together to raise funds for the ABC/25 Foundation. All proceeds are put directly back into our schools and classrooms through teacher grants for innovative teaching methods and materials. Register by March 22nd to receive early registration perks including a $5 discount on the entry fee, a guaranteed race t-shirt and the option to have your race packet delivered to your D25 school.
