KINDERGARTEN UPDATE
February 2, 2024
Greeting SELC PK Families,
Welcome to February! Thank you to those who could join us in celebrating our Apple Distinguished School Achievement today! I always say it, but SELC has the BEST families! If you were unable to make our celebration today, click the link below to see the amazing things your Eaglets do with iPad in their classrooms. February is quite busy with Groundhog's Day, a few no school days around President's Day, and Head Start family-teacher conferences. February is also Black History month and while we represent and honor diverse cultures throughout the year in many ways, this month, we will celebrate African Americans who have impacted us throughout history.
To kick of our celebration of Black History Month, many of our Eaglets will get to know Amanda Gorman next week! Amanda is a writer and the first-ever National Youth Poet Laureate! Amanda struggled with speech delays and turned to poetry as a way to overcome challenges and make a difference in the world.
Many Eaglets have also begun to explore the artwork of Aaron Douglas and music created by Nina Simone.
A FEW REMINDERS:
- No school for Eaglets on Friday February 16th, Monday February 19th, and Tuesday February 20th.
- Head Start Family Conferences are on February 20th!
- Remember to share any changes to your child's emergency contact information! If you have a new phone number, email, or additions or deletions to people allowed to pick your child up, let your child teacher know ASAP.
Amanda Makes an Appearance on Sesame Street!
