MARTY'S MINUTE
We take immense pride in the achievements of the educators within the Port Angeles School District! On Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Port Angeles Community Awards Gala, three exceptional PASD educators were acknowledged for their outstanding contributions. The Educator of the Year title nominees were Jarrett Hansen, Everett Young, and Stacey Sanders. Stacey Sanders received the prestigious honor from the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce.
Their dedication and exemplary efforts have earned them well-deserved recognition and reflect the high standard of commitment exhibited by all educators in our school system. These three individuals, Jarrett Hansen, Everett Young, and Stacey Sanders, represent the values and excellence we strive for in Port Angeles. Thank you, and congratulations to all!
STAFF SPOTLIGHT--SAMMY ADOLPHSEN (ROOSEVELT ELEMENTARY)
Say hi to Sammy! Sammy is a paraeducator at Roosevelt Elementary School.
Where are you from?
Raised in the Pacific Northwest, born in Bakersfield, California
What is your favorite thing about your job?
When students accidentally call me mom.
Anything you'd like to share about your family?
I have a blue nose pitbull named Maci. She is a great snuggler.
Do you have any hobbies?
I try to get outside as often as possible. I love taking Maci for walks and exploring new areas.
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
If I could choose anything for a day, I would choose for my family to all live together again.
What is your goal for this year?
My goal for this year is to develop relationships and learn from my colleagues.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years, I plan on still being here.
What is a fun fact that most people don’t know about you?
I have worked as a Corrections Officer for Washington State Department of Corrections.
Anything else you'd like to share with your co-workers?
I love Thai food.

LUNCH WITH RELATIVES AT ROOSEVELT ELEMENTARY
What a turnout! 187 guests recently joined students at Roosevelt Elementary for the Lunch with Relatives event! From parents to grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends; the cafeteria was alive with laughter and stories. A big thank you goes out to all of our families and staff who made this happen!
FUTURE CHEFS COMPETITION DEADLINE EXTENDED
FBLA WINTER CONFERENCE SUCCESS
The Port Angeles High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) had a successful round of competition. Eight FBLA members from Port Angeles competed in our Puget Sound Region Winter Conference held on February 2nd at Pacific Lutheran University.
This conference qualifies for the state conference held in Spokane, WA, April 24-27. Over 150 students from nine chapters from across the Puget Sound Region competed. Thirteen FBLA students from PAHS qualified for state, including one who placed first in their event.

PAPER SHREDDING FUNDRAISER EVENT -- APRIL 13TH
MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!
Join us for a paper shredding event on Saturday, April 13th, 2024, from 10 AM – 1 PM at Steve Methner’s State Farm, 611 E. Front Street.
Bring your paper to shred and make a donation. Proceeds from this event will help fund our Back to School Fair held in August, where children in need receive supplies for the 2024-25 school year.
Thanks to our community for supporting this event year after year!
UPCOMING PASD & COMMUNITY EVENTS
Join us for an evening of unforgettable Jazz featuring Europe’s greatest trumpet virtuoso and recording artist, Andrea Tofanelli.
This performance will feature the music of Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Herbie Hancock, Chuck Mangione & Maynard Ferguson. Mr. Tofanelli will be joined by the Olympic Express Big Band and special guests, the PAHS Jazz Band under the direction of Jarrett Hansen.
This show will benefit the Port Angeles High School Band Boosters which directly supports the student musicians enrolled in band classes at PAHS. The funds they raise are used to support all aspects of the program from day-to-day learning needs and competitions, to the coveted Carnegie Hall trip where the students are given the opportunity to perform in this world renowned venue.
