Word Wall Words
Literacy Workstations
In the above activity, Delaney is matching upper and lowercase letters.
Word Work
We continue to listen for sounds in words. Our students are doing a wonderful job "tapping" out the sounds of words and writing the corresponding letters to spell words.
Writers Workshop
During Writers Workshop we are writing nonfiction books about fish. Students were able to use whichever facts they would like to share. Next week they will be writing about an animal of their choosing.
Shared Reading
During Shared Reading students take turns reading the pages. They enjoy selecting who will read the next page. Not only do they work on reading but manners, as well. They are courteous and thank each other for selecting them.
Math
In math we are working on patterning. We have created AB, AAB, ABB, and ABC patterns this week.
Math Workstations
In math workstations we practice a variety of skills. Above, Jackson is working on the alligator game where is comparing numbers. Trevor is creating patterns with pattern blocks.
Reading Workshop
We are enjoying reading lots of nonfiction books on fish.
Social Studies
In Social Studies we are learning about how things have changed over time. We read books and watched videos. Ask your child how things have changed. They should be able to explain a few differences (horse/car, fire/stove, chalkboard/paper).
Book Fair
We enjoyed shopping for new books at the school Book Fair this week!
November Challenge
Please work with your child to help them learn their birthdate. They should be able to tell us the month and day. We will be checking on their progress at the end of the month.
