This week we will have our PSSA meeting and our WASC visit. Thank you to all parents and students who have volunteered to speak to our WASC committee. If you would like to participate, please contact Dr. Oplustic.
Our calendar for next year will be on the Board's agenda for approval in April. Our first day of class is tentatively scheduled for August 3, 2022. We will publish the entire calendar once it is approved.
Mark your calendar for our graduation ceremony to be held May 20th at 3:00pm.
There is some information regarding the VCCCD mask requirement currently in effect. The target date to make masks optional is April 11, 2022. Up until that time, all students and staff must wear masks while indoors.
Have a wonderful and restful Spring Break Phoenix Families.
Riding Off Into The Sunset
While I am sad that HSMC is losing such a wonderful, hardworking, caring, professional counselor, I am happy to know that a person I love as a dear friend will be spending more time with her family and new grandson.
I cannot lie, Mrs. McIntosh will be nearly impossible to replace. I can assure you that whoever does come to HSMC as counselor next year will be of the highest caliber and ready to take on the counselor duties on day one.
Please join me in thanking Mrs. McIntosh for ther 34 years of service to MUSD and all the hard work she has done while here at HSMC.
Good luck and God speed Dyan, you will be sorely missed.

Mask Mandate
VCCCD has named April 11th as the target date for a change in the mask mandate. Please see letter sent to students (below in italics):
Dear Student,
We are fortunate to be at a point where COVID-19 seven-day PCR testing positivity rates and COVID hospitalizations in Ventura County have continued a steady decline. The CDC COVID-19 guidelines and state and local public health orders have modified the wearing of face masks indoors from mandatory to highly recommended. Ventura County is currently categorized in the “Low” COVID-19 community level, according to CDC parameters. The wearing of face masks indoors is optional in counties at this level, and the Ventura County Public Health orders align with this change. The K-12 system and other higher education institutions in the county have already or will soon make the wearing of face masks indoors optional.
Throughout the pandemic, our colleges have made adjustments in protocols based upon current data and guidelines, orders, and regulations from appropriate agencies. We are now able to consider a change to the requirement to wear a face mask indoors at all VCCCD locations. We have set a target date of Monday, April 11, 2022, to lift the mask mandate and move toward highly recommending the use of masks indoors at all VCCCD locations for all employees, students, and visitors. Communications and signage will strongly recommend the wearing of face masks indoors for everyone. The District will continue to have face masks available upon request. Individuals who have received an exemption from the vaccine mandate should continue to follow the required safety provisions according to their exemption.
There will be a range of feelings and perspectives regarding this change, and I would ask that you accept individual decisions regarding the wearing of face masks indoors.
We will continue to monitor COVID-19 rates and will reinstate the mask mandate if we return to unsafe levels — though we remain hopeful that COVID-19 rates remain low.
We would like your feedback: Please complete a short survey to help us understand how to support you through this change in protocol and learn your perspectives from the last two years.
Best regards,
Greg Gillespie, Ph.D.
Chancellor
Ventura County Community College District
