Recent Concerns
Cell Phones and Social Media
Social media plays a big role in teen culture today. Surveys show that ninety percent of teens ages 13-17 have used social media. Seventy five percent report having at least one active social media profile, and 51% report visiting a social media site at least daily. Two thirds of teens have their own mobile devices with internet capabilities. Some of the most common apps used by our students at CMIT are Instagram, Locket, Discord, Twitter (X), and apps that allow for texting group chats. The activity on these apps outside of school do tend affect our students when they come to school. There are many ways to help your child learn to use social media sites responsibly. It's important to talk with your child about their social media use and your family rules, including consequences for too much use or inappropriate use and how you will be monitoring their online activities.
Dismissal
Our dismissal process begins at 2:49 pm daily. All scholars must be out of the building by 3:15 pm, unless participating in an after-school activity. Additionally, those students who are staying after-school must report directly to their program. Students are not allowed to loiter or leave the property and return, as it poses a safety concern related to student supervision.
We appreciate your attention and cooperation in ensuring that CMIT provides an environment conducive to learning and safety for all!

In case you missed it!!
IXL is one of the resource tools that we use to measure student progress, support student learning, and data collection. Every Wednesday during our Tiger Time students have the opportunity to work on an adaptive diagnostic assessment or complete assigned practice skills in math, RELA, or science. The assigned skills support students with grade level content as well as provide data for our school performance. Please remind your scholar to take this time seriously and to do their best. Below are some resources for parents that you can use to have a conversation with your scholar about their work in IXL. During winter break IXL is available for students to practice.
