AP TESTING
What if my AP class isn't until the spring semester? When do I register/pay?
THIS IS FOR SECOND SEMESTER CLASSES ONLY----For AP students in Spring ONLY semester classes, please make sure to sign into your myap.collegeboard.org account and enroll in your Spring AP class sections or exam only sections (you will be able to join after your first day of class in January). Your teacher will give you the join code, so be sure to check with them if needed. For student's that do NOT already have a College Board account, you will need to go to College Board to create one. Please make sure you only have ONE account, and you must use your legal name when you register. After you have enrolled you will then register and pay for your Spring AP exam on the school webstore (this will open on Friday, January 7th). Make sure you SELECT the SPRING Class at https://twhs.conroeisd.net/school/our-campus/school-webstore/. The deadline is February 27, 2022. Be sure to select the 2nd semester box on payment.
NOTE: IF you paid for any spring only exams in the fall then all you need to do now is join the myapclassroom with code provided by Spring ONLY AP teacher in January.
The deadline to pay and register for AP exams for yearlong and Fall classes was 10/31. Any student needing to register and pay will need to see Mrs. Spears in grade level. Students will need a join code since they are late. There is also a $40 late fee for each exam. Students in Spring ONLY courses will enroll and pay (if they haven't already paid) in January and will have until 2/27/22 to make that enrollment and payment.
FINAL deadline for all AP exam ordering/payment is 2/27/22---NO payment or exam orders will be allowed after this date. No exceptions.
"All Things AP Testing Newsletter"---you will find everything you need to know about AP testing---this will be updated throughout the year. This link will also be posted on the TWHS freshman/senior campus school websites.

Diving will take place on Thursday February 3 starting at 4, swimming prelims begin at 4 on Friday, and finals will occur on Saturday beginning at 4. Come out and support your boys and girls state champions as they compete in this exciting meet!
LADY HIGHLANDER BASKETBALL: The Freshmen Red Lady Highlanders have been doing well and overcoming adversity along the way. We are small in numbers but big in heart and tenacity. We have a multi-scoring attack led by Claudia Keene, Samantha Simpson, and Matea Stroder. Kanyia Chambers has grown into a poised point guard that is more than a handful on both sides of the ball. Devan Bonura and Sophie Peters anchor us in the post, while Alaina Kiscoe and Dymond Coleman bring us a big boost of energy off the bench. Every night, we set out to prove that we are indeed better together by playing a great brand of team basketball with one goal in mind, to be district champs. The fight continues . . . .
- The 9th Girls BB Green Team beat Oak Ridge 32 to 29 last night (02/02/22). Top scorers include Amari Burton with 12 & Olivia Johnson with 8. Two other team mates had 5 points equally. This brings the team to 6 wins & 4 losses for this year. The Green Team's last game is on 02/05/22, @ 9AM at TWHS. Great job girls! Coach Harvey is proud of you.
- The Lady Highlander JV team has had an amazing season thus far as we approach the final two games of the season. They have an overall record of 20-5 and District record of 5-3. We are looking forward to finishing the season strong and continuing to hold true to our motto of hard work pays off! Let's go Lady Highlanders, let’s finish what we started!
- The Lady Highlander Varsity is working hard to get to the playoffs. They have grabbed 2 big wins over the last 2 games. Saturday was Senior Saturday in the Lady Highlander gym where we recognized and honored our 3 awesome seniors Anna Orr, Laura Haas, and Alejandra Merodio. The Lady Highlanders went on to defeat Willis 54-27 and were led by Anna Orr with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Piper Findlay also contributed 9 points on the day. Then Wednesday night the Lady Highlanders had an AWESOME buzzer beating win at Oak Ridge. Payton Findlay hit the game winning 3 pointer at the buzzer. Leading scorers on the night were Anna Orr with 18 points and 7 rebounds, Laura Haas with 11 points, and Piper Findlay with 10 points. The girls have 2 more games in district play and are looking to keeping battling to earn that playoff spot!! Go Highlanders!!!
BOYS BASKETBALL: The Freshman Red boys' basketball team have already started their last round of district play. They are still dominating the district as they are looking to stay undefeated in district and win the district championship. Their next home game is Wednesday against Conroe and then Saturday at College Park.
- The Woodlands Freshmen Green Basketball Team has really been playing well this year. In the past two games the team has defeated College Park by score of 58-26 and Willis by a score of 71-49. This pushes the Green Teams record to 24-3 overall and 10-0 in district with 5 games to go. Let’s go Highlanders.
- The Sophomore basketball team moved its record to 15-6 (9-1 in District) with wins this past week against College Park and Willis. This week, we begin the final round of district with games against Oak Ridge at home on Wednesday, 2/2, and at Grand Oaks on Friday, 2/4. Come out and support your Highlanders as they pursue the sophomore district championship.
- The JV Boys Basketball team is off to a great season so far. They currently have an overall record of 21-5 and is tied for the district championship with a district record of 9-1. Please wish them their best on the final 5 games to hopefully clinch a JV District Championship!
- The Boys Basketball team has clinched a 17th straight Playoff appearance by beating Willis at their place last Saturday 53-27. With this win Coach Reed (380-183) became the all time wins leader for Highlander basketball passing the late great Coach Terry Priest (379-314). On Wednesday the Highlanders also beat Oak Ridge 63-54. We are currently in 2nd place of District 13-6A. If you would like to get a playoff T-shirt for $15 please contact Coach Nash at tbnash@conroeisd.net to let him know how many and what size you would want. He can also send you what the t-shirt will look like. We go to Grand Oaks on Friday night to determine who will be 2nd or 3rd place in our district. Next week we host Conroe on Wednesday and go to College Park on Saturday afternoon. Please come out and support your Highlanders as we gear up for the playoffs.

9th Grade Campus - Biology Field Test
During the weeks of February 7 – 18, 2022, school districts across the State of Texas will be participating in the STAAR Stand-Alone Field Test. The STAAR Stand-Alone Field Test is a requirement of HB 3906, from the 86th Legislature, 2019 which mandates a redesign of the STAAR Test to be implemented in the 2022-2023 school year. The purpose of the Stand-Alone Field tests is to gather data to properly integrate new components and question types into the future STAAR assessments.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has selected 49 Conroe ISD campuses to participate in the field test. Each campus is selected to administer a single grade or subject. Participation in the STAAR Stand-Alone Field Test is mandated by TEA – districts and campuses may not opt out.
The Woodlands High School 9th Grade Campus has been chosen to administer the 9th Grade Biology STAAR End of Course exam and will administer the test on February 9, 2022.
STAAR Stand-Alone Field Test details:
- Tests are online only; no paper materials are available
- Campuses should schedule approximately 2.5 hours to administer the test
- All eligible students enrolled in the grade or course selected for the campus are required by TEA to participate in the field test – including English Learners and students with disabilities unless a student requires an accommodation that is not available in the online field test
- No data or scores will be received from the field test, they are for information only – neither campuses nor students are scored or rated based on these tests
- Number and type of questions:
- Math, science, and social studies tests have 30 questions
- Reading tests have 22 to 39 questions
- Question types will vary by test form, but all new question types will be field-tested
More information about the STAAR Redesign process can be found on the TEA STAAR Redesign webpage.
All ninth-grade students will report directly to TWHS 9th Grade Campus on February 9, 2022. Testing room assignments will be posted around the cafeteria and staff will be available Wednesday morning to help students find their testing location. We will remain on our Advisory Bell schedule. Shuttles will run third block, fourth block, and after school on February 9, 2022.

CLINIC NOTES:
If your student has received any vaccines this school year, including their COVID-19 vaccines or booster, feel free to send a copy or screenshot to the clinic at school so that we can have it on file. You can also email it to aransley@conroeisd.net for the Senior Campus, or jffletcher@conroeisd.net for the Ninth Grade Campus.
If you have a graduating senior, please be sure to request a copy of their vaccine record to be picked up by your student or emailed to you. This needs to be requested before the end of school; we are not available during the summer. Most colleges and universities require an additional dose of the Meningitis (MCV4) vaccine that is received on or after the 16th birthday.
District COVID-19 guidelines were revised again on January 14th. They are set by the Texas Department of State Health Services, and include information on what to do if your student tests positive, has symptoms of COVID-19, or has been a close contact to someone who has tested positive. For the most up to date information, please refer to the Roadmap to Remaining Open on the Conroe ISD site: https://www.conroeisd.net/roadmap-to-reopening/
