Better Together

Dear Wiggin Street Families,

What a fun week we had at Wiggin Street! There was cuteness overload with all the pink and red valentine clothing. Students loved handing out valentines and sharing their creative boxes. We also saw student creativity during the Math-a-thon Makerspace reward. Since this event has passed, we no longer need any more recyclable materials for the makerspace. Thank you to all that sent in materials. The kids had a blast! Some students were also treated to a Math-a-thon VIP Breakfast this week. The red carpet was rolled out, and pictures were taken when they entered. Our staff served the students for another fun treat!

We look forward to another fun week with other Math-a-thon reward events. Our Chess Club will be holding a chess tournament starting this week. Also, we have Spring Picture Day on Friday, so mark your calendars.

Lastly, if your child rides a school bus, School Driver Appreciation Day is this Thursday, 2/22. It's a difficult job driving with a bus load of kids. Please remind your child to say thank you as they get ready to board the bus. I'm sure the drivers would greatly appreciate it!

Winter Weather

Please remember that students will go outside on days where the temperature with wind chill accounted for is 20°f and above. Be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather each day. Coats, hats, and gloves are necessary at this time of the year. Boots are required for playing in the snow. If you need assistance with winter outerwear for your child, please contact our school, and we will happily find warm clothes for them.

Inclement Weather Calamity Days

Also, we use ‘Instant Connect Alerts’ as our closings and delays notification system which is how you probably received this Parent Update. If not, please make sure you have signed up at Instant Connect portal.

Temperature and wind chill. Temperature and/or sustained wind chills at or below -10F during peak pick-up times for buses and walking times for students are given special consideration.

Lastly, if school is on a 2-hour delay, we will start school at 11:00 am with drop-off beginning at 10:40. Lunch will always be pizza on delay days, and no breakfast will be served.

Idle-free Zone

For pick up, please do not arrive until 3:30. There is no stopping, standing, or parking on E. Brooklyn St. allowed. Also, please reminder that our school is an Idle-free Zone. Protect our children and the community by turning off your engine.
