We are Here to Help!
School and prevention counselors are available to meet with students and parents as needed. Although counselors spend time in each grade level in classrooms throughout the year, we are also able to provide 1:1 services for students and families. Never hesitate to reach out for social, emotional, academic, college or career counseling! Contact information for counselors can be found on the website.
School Counselor FYI's
Unweighted vs. Weighted GPA: Cloverleaf High School is now using an unweighted GPA and weighted GPA starting in the 2023-2024 school year. All transcripts provide an unweighted, 4.0 GPA and a weighted GPA on a 5.0 scale. As a reminder CCP admittance, honors diplomas and presidential awards of excellence are all based on an UNWEIGHTED GPA only.
GPAs on Report Cards: Report cards show a Quarter GPA and a Cumulative GPA. However, the GPA that counts for graduation awards is the Cumulative GPA. Cumulative GPA is calculated by the final grade in each course only. Quarter GPAs are used for honor and merit roll.
AP vs CCP: Counselors are often asked, “What is better? A College Credit Plus class or an Advanced Placement class?” and the answer is, it depends on the student! CCP Classes are college classes that high school students take for both high school and college credit. Colleges accept CCP courses as college courses when a student enrolls in college. The easiest way to plan for this is to use the website Transferology. This website allows students to compare the CCP class at Cloverleaf to a specific college and whether that credit will transfer. AP classes are Advanced Placement classes. These classes are college level courses that require an exam at the end. To see what score a student would need to get in order to be awarded college credit, visit this website.
Graduation Plans: NEW in 2021-22, High School Counselors meet 1:1 with every student every year to update a graduation plan. More information will be provided as we complete plans with each grade level. Seniors and sophomores are in the first semester and juniors and freshman in the spring semester.
