After School Pick-Up Routine Reminder
Families, we have had some close calls with pedestrians and traffic during our 2:50pm student pick-up time. Please remember, if you drive to the student pick-up and drive into the pick-up line, please remain in your car and be sure to move up ahead as cars pull out. Please do not get out of your car if you are in the pick-up line. If you need to exit your vehicle, please park in the parking spaces.
Please also follow the formal traffic flow shown in the attached map that was developed by our school district's Safe Routes to School Department in partnership with our school. Cars moving against the pick-up flow have had some close safety calls and impede the student pick-up. We really appreciate your attention to this. Thanks for helping keep all our students, families and staff safe.
Huerta/Chavez Event at Hamlin Middle School, April 13th
This year’s Celebration of the life and work of two great human rights leaders, Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez, will take place in-person at Hamlin Middle School on Thursday April 13th from 5:30-7:30 pm.The bilingual event will highlight student art work and performances from numerous Springfield schools, and delicious refreshments will be served! We hope to see you there!

Please note that any of these days masks and toy weapons are not acceptable. All clothing should allow students to move freely, go outside for recess, and sit at a desk, or on the ground. Thanks so much!
Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 17th-21st
We are excited to celebrate those parents, family and community members who have been regularly volunteering for us this year during National Volunteer Week, April 17-21! We are planning on recognizing our terrific volunteers with little gifts and acts of appreciation this week. Family Bingo Night - Friday, April 21st
Come support your PTO at BINGO Night on Friday, April 21! Please invite your friends and family! Doors open at 5 pm, BINGO starts at 5:30. Flyers will be going home with students the week of the event. Every student will get 3 free BINGO cards when they bring in their flyer. The flyer must be turned in to collect the free cards. This will be a cash only event. BINGO cards are $1 each. There will be pizza, snacks, treats and drinks available to purchase. We could use your help! Family Reading (Poetry) Night - Thursday, April 27th!
Our school will be hosting a Family Reading Night with an emphasis on POETRY the evening of Thursday, April 27th from 6-7pm. Students and families will have access to poems, be able to read them aloud in a "Poetry Slam" type of event that will further prepare students for "Poem in Your Pocket Day" the following school day, Friday, April 28th. Students can also participate in a book exchange and engage with families in other fun events! There will be light snacks available too! We hope to see you there!
Poem In Your Pocket Day - Friday, April 28th!
Friday, April 28th is POEM IN YOUR POCKET DAY! This is an engaging and fun day where students carry a poem in their pocket and can be prompted to read it aloud on various occasions. Students who share will receive stickers, Otter Bucks, Hoorays and potentially other fun prizes! Attending the Family Reading Night the night before will give students more opportunities to practice speaking their poems aloud; further enhancing oral reading ability! We look forward to students participating in this exciting day that continues to celebrate reading!
Kindergarten Information Night, Monday, May 2nd at 6:00pm
Springfield Public Schools is excited to announce the return of our in-person Kindergarten Welcome Night in May 2023! Incoming kindergartners and their caregivers are invited to come see our school, meet staff, and get prepared and excited for this important first step in their school career on Tuesday, May 2nd at 6:00pm! Online enrollment for students will open the first day of May and computers will be set up at Welcome Night to support families completing online registration. We look forward to seeing you there!
Summer SPARK Program Enrollment Open Now!
Looking for FREE summer fun for your kids?
Registration is NOW OPEN for Springfield Public Schools' SPARK camp in July! This four week camp is open to any SPS student currently enrolled in kindergarten through 7th grade.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided and limited transportation is available.
