Happy Groundhog's Day! If you have not heard yet, results indicate an early spring. For now, we will just welcome a few more sunny days this winter!

This week on Windsor Drive was improved with traffic moving more safely and efficiently. Thank you to all for your support and help in following procedures and reporting concerns. Feel free to reach out with feedback anytime and we will continue our efforts around making arrival and dismissal times as smooth as possible for all.

District 25 has approved and shared next year's 2020-2021 school calendar. Here is a link for your reference. It will continue to be featured in our Week at Windsor.

We are looking forward to the month of February. As we have been sharing, we hope to see many different students and families this Thursday 2/6 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Windsor PTA Book and Science/Technology Fair. The Windsor PTA is again sponsoring a school-wide reading challenge (click link) prior to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Interested students can log reading minutes that occur during the 7-day challenge. The Book Fair is in conjunction with our Windsor PTA Science and Engineering Fair, in which all families are invited. We appreciate all that the PTA does to support our students and school!

We kicked off our Kids Heart Challenge Friday afternoon with a special all school assembly. Children went home with information, including a permission slip, if you want us to help them login and participate from school.

During the month of February, the children are encouraged to: "Move More", "Be Kind", and "Be Ready!" We will be doing fun activities all month to reinforce and promote those three things. Families can also get involved by registering on the site and checking out the different features. http://www2.heart.org/goto/windsor25 Families can choose their challenge. Donations are optional. There are many different ways for children and families to participate, learn, and give back.

Our Windsor Twitter feed features lots of fun moments from Friday's assembly. Many thanks to Ms. Hartfield, Ms. Higgins, Mr. Gember, and our Wildcat Student Council for their planning and work to bring us this learning opportunity!

Registration is open for the 9th Annual ABC/25 Get Burbed Challenge on April 25, 2020! Choose the 5K or 1 mile and walk or run with friends and neighbors who are coming together to raise funds for the ABC/25 Foundation. All proceeds are put directly back into our schools and classrooms through teacher grants for innovative teaching methods and materials. Register by March 22nd to receive early registration perks including a $5 discount on the entry fee, a guaranteed race t-shirt and the option to have your race packet delivered to your D25 school. The Nominating Committee is elected for the sole purpose of seeking qualified individuals to become the nominees for each office to be filled in the upcoming year. Superintendent Dr. Bein regularly hosts Open Door times for parents and community members. Dr. Bein is taking her “Open Door” on the road this year visiting all District 25 schools. She will be at Windsor School on February 4th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Feel free to stop by to ask questions, share concerns, or just say "Hello!" No appointments are necessary.

Here is a previously sent letter explaining the Illinois 5 Essentials. Fourth and fifth grade students will take the survey some time in January/February after we return from the Winter Break.

We will share more regarding Valentine's Day parties taking place at school on Wednesday 2/12. We will be planning with our Windsor PTA and various Room Reps. As a reminder, if your child is planning to pass out Valentine's Day cards to other students, they cannot have any candy or food attached or accompanying them.

We emailed this letter (click on link) earlier this month with all teachers' conference sign up links.

• Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Thursday 2/13 and Friday 2/14. The conference times on Thursday include morning, day, and evening 20-minute appointments. The conference times on Friday only include morning appointments.
• If you are unable to make an in person time on our two conference days, you may sign up for a phone conference or email teachers to schedule a phone conference during their regular school days/hours of 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM.
• Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate additional 20-minute fourth or fifth grade math teacher time slots on our conference days. However, if you already know you have specific math questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child's math teacher via email. Teachers will then follow up with you accordingly.

Our District 25 Parent-Student Handbook is always shared as part of each year's online registration process. Typically, we will highlight sections throughout the school year.
