Week of November 6, 2023
A note from the Head of School
Dear CSA Family and Friends,
Welcome to a new week at CSA. We are entering into a busy season at school. Several majors are gearing toward winter performances and high-stakes assessments. We are excited to announce our 2023 Winterfest Showcase on Thursday, December 14th, and Friday, December 15th. Please see the flyer below for details and please share this information with friends and family. Tickets go on sale on November 10th via the CSA website.
The Creative Writing Department is excited to share they will host CSA 1st Poetry Slam of the school year, on November 9th, 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm. Students will share original works. The show is open to the public. Tickets for attending the show are $5.
Currently on display in the first-floor gallery are original works from Mrs. Quinn's visual arts students. The juried work consists of charcoal drawings of local landmarks. Samples can seen below (student work samples).
Annual Popcorn Fundraiser: It's that time of year again. The Double Good Popcorn Fundraiser kicks off on Thursday, November 9th, 6:00 pm, and ends on Monday, November 13th, 6:00 pm. This four-day fundraiser is fun and easy. The virtual fundraiser requires no handling of products or money. All scholars and their families are encouraged to participate. Each participant's fundraising goal is a minimum of just $400 in sales. Funds raised will go towards student activities. Prizes and school swag will be given to top fundraisers.
Before the fundraiser begins:
1. Download the Double Good app
2. Enter our Event Code LBICPT in the app
3. Create your Pop-Up Store (watch this brief video to learn how to personalize your pop-up store)
The Double Good app is available for free on iOS and Android.

Veterans Day: There is no school on Friday, November 10th.
All City Presents, Dream Girls the Musical: The time has come for CSA and students DISTRICT-WIDE to audition for the 22nd Annual All-City Musical, Dreamgirls. All City is looking for energetic scholars from CSA to represent in the spring. All City highly encourages CSA scholars to audition on EITHER Thursday, November 2, OR Tuesday, November 7. No prior experience is required. If cast, students will be trained during the 4-month rehearsal process. Dreamgirls will be performed March 19 - 24. See below and attached for more details.
Schoology parent access: It is highly encouraged that families use their parent access codes to review their scholar's classroom grades and performance. By using your Schoology parent access, you will be able to see your scholar's current grade, assignments completed, and assignments missed. This is a great tool for keeping up with your scholar's progress in class. Reach out to your scholar's teacher(s) if you have questions. Click to log in. Your scholar's teacher can provide the access code if you do not already have it. You need to have updated contact credentials in the Student Information System (SIS) to be able to be provided with your Schoology Parent account. Contact the school's main office to update your contact information.

CSA Family and Community Engagement Survey
November is National Family Engagement Month. National Parent Involvement Day also occurs this month on Thursday, November 16th. Over 40 years of research clearly indicate all scholars achieve at higher levels when schools and families support each other.
Research has shown that when schools and families are engaged in meaningful two-way communication and collaboration, scholars have:
- More positive attitudes toward school
- Higher grades and test scores, which equal higher achievement
- Better attendance
- More homework completed
- Higher graduation rates
- Greater enrollment in post-secondary educational opportunities
This month and always, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District is grateful to parents and caregivers for the important role they play in their children’s education.
