It’s May!!!

We made it!!! Although snow has been known to fall in May here in Minnesota, it is rare and almost laughable after a long winter. But here we are, May 1 with sunshine and blue skies!

May brings many celebrations to schools and Hamilton Ridge is certainly living up to this expectation. In this newsletter, you will find information on many celebrations happening this month. The HRE all-school game day is on June 2, the all-district 5th grade track and field day at PLHS on May 26. There is also the 4th and 5th grade choir concert on May 9 along with our 5th grade art show. Grade levels will also have multiple field trips throughout the month.

But wait… there’s more! The PTC is hosting the Spring Fling on Friday, May 19 and we are looking to schedule one more movie night before the end of the year.

Rest assured that academics still continue throughout May and even into June. The extra celebrations are ways to honor students for their work and provide significant ways to enjoy our community before summer.

Parents are invited to celebrate with us at many of the events. Please read more about the events below, and make sure you read your child's teacher’s emails for further details.

Complete with a live musical ensemble, Hamilton Ridge students and staff will enjoy a "Fancy" lunch on Friday, May 12. Good manners make meal time a happy experience for everyone. There are lots of ways to use good manners at the table. Students will be having a classroom discussion and then put those manners into action - be sure to talk to your children about what they learned!

2023-24 ncoming Kindergartners are invited to attend the Kindergarten Open House at their home school on May 15. Students will have an opportunity to ride a school bus and tour their school.

Coming Up…

Great Start to Kindergarten Assessment Days for Hamilton Ridge will be Tuesday, August 1 and Wednesday, August 9. During this time, a trained staff member will work with your child one-on-one to measure reading, math and social skills. The testing will take up to 30 minutes and will help us place your child in the kindergarten classroom that is best suited for him/her. A sign up to schedule this appointment will be sent the 3rd week of June.

The final library book check out for this school year is Thursday, May 18 (Day 2). Please be sure to gather any HRE books that may be at your home. Notices will be sent home for any lost or damaged books, which can be paid for on Affinity located under "Lost Books".

As we wrap up the school year, please remember that attendance matters. Thank you for ensuring that your student comes to school each and every day. We appreciate you working in collaboration with the school to have a successful school year.

• The HRE Spring Fling is almost here! Mark Friday, May 19, from 5 to 7, on your calendars. It's a time to celebrate our school year with family and friends. We'll have games, face painting, food, and lots of fun. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the grade-themed baskets. Our silent auction is poised to be the best yet. • Friends and Family Golf Tournament Fundraiser

• Volunteer at Lakefront Music Fest
  Interested in attending this summer’s Lakefront Music fest for FREE? Sign up for a volunteer shift and gain free admission and a free T-Shirt for the weekend. Our next PTC meeting is Tuesday, May 2, at 6:30. We meet in the media center. We'll be putting the finishing touches on spring fling and looking ahead to the fall (if you can believe it!). MCA Testing will wrap up the week of May 8 with the 5th grade Science MCA. MCA scores for Grades 3-5 will be sent to parents in the fall of 2023.

The testing schedule is below. Please schedule appointments and vacations around remaining testing dates. It is important our 4th and fifth graders are present for the state tests.
