Spring Break Dates
District 41 schools will be closed for spring break, March 28 - April 1.
Process for Visitors in Schools
Prior to the pandemic, the district purchased a school visitor management system called RAPTOR to enhance the district's safety protocols when welcoming visitors to our schools. For the safety of everyone in our buildings, we will be reinstating the protocol and requiring all schools to RAPTOR visitors starting after spring break.
When a visitor comes to a school building, front office staff will ask for their drivers license and scan it into the RAPTOR system. The front office will keep the license and give the visitor a lanyard to visibly wear while in the building. All visitors are required to “check out” and turn in their lanyard upon completion of the visit.
Visitors and volunteers who fail to comply with District 41 RAPTOR System protocols will not be permitted into the school building. Thank you for your cooperation. Safety is our number one priority.
Community Engagement Sessions
The Board of Education approved a partnership with community engagement consultant EOSullivan to help develop a plan for the future of our schools. Working together, we will develop a community-driven plan that will make our schools better than ever so we can continue to deliver the excellence that everyone has come to expect.
To kick off the process, ALL stakeholders are invited to attend one of our upcoming public engagement sessions to help review the district’s progress to date and discuss current challenges and potential solutions to address the district’s needs going forward. This is a part of a four phase public engagement process.
One session was held last Saturday. There are two remaining sessions:
Thursday, March 24 -- 6:30 to 8 pm – Churchill Elementary, 240 Geneva Road, Glen Ellyn.
Monday, April 4 -- 6:30 to 8 pm – Virtual meeting (Click HERE to register).
Please RSVP for one of the sessions listed above by CLICKING HERE so we know how many people to expect. We hope you are able to attend one of the public engagement sessions that will help determine the future of our schools.
COVID Reminders Related to Spring Break
If your student tests positive over spring break, please notify your school nurse of the date of symptom onset or positive test date (if your student was asymptomatic). You may notify your school nurse securely via email using the following links:
- Hadley
A few COVID reminders:
To calculate your child’s 5-day isolation period, day 0 is your child’s first day of symptoms or the date the positive viral test was collected (for people with no COVID-19 symptoms). Day 1 is the first full day after your child’s symptoms developed or the first full day after the date they were tested for people with no symptoms of COVID-19.
If your child has or had symptoms, you can end their isolation after 5 full days if they are fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication AND their other symptoms have improved (loss of taste and smell can persist for weeks or months after recovery and need not delay the end of isolation). If they experienced vomiting or diarrhea, both need to have ceased for 24 hours prior to their return to school as well.
If your child never had symptoms, you can end their isolation 5 full days after the positive viral test was collected.
If your student's isolation will prevent them from returning to school on Monday 4/4, please call them in absent on the attendance line for their school and wait for further instructions from your school nurse. There may be an increased call volume upon our return to school on 4/4, so please be patient with response time.
School administration will reach out to you with additional information on how your student can continue learning and receive instruction during their isolation period. Anticipate access to remote learning after spring break to start no earlier than Tuesday 4/5 if you contact your school nurse by Monday 4/4 during school hours.

Hadley Band Solo & Ensemble Festival
Hadley Band students participated in the annual Solo & Ensemble Festival last night. The festival is an opportunity for students to perform a solo and/or ensemble in front of another professional music educator to showcase their preparation and musicianship. Then, during a one-on-one clinic, they receive praise and constructive feedback from the clinician on how they can continue to improve their craft. Thank you to Band Directors Ms. Tribley and Mr. Cooper for providing their students with these rich musical experiences.
Glenbard West Student Highlights Interactive Read Alouds
Former Churchill student Eishaal Sodager visited Ms. Cassidy's 1st graders at Churchill this week. Eishaal, who is now a freshmen at Glenbard West, discussed research that she has done about interactive read alouds and the positive impact it has had on her studies and on struggling readers. Thank you to Eishaal for sharing her work with our students.
