IMPORTANT REMINDERS
5-7 Parents: Students will begin using their lockers on Monday. Procedures and times will be listed on the locker hall doors and reviewed with the students on WSMM.
Upcoming Celebrations & Donation Drives
As promised at the start of the school year, we will not have a large scale fund raiser. We have had a couple of small voluntary fund raisers. The latest being the Holy Diaper Drive. Thank you for your generosity. Our SMM Families have such big hearts.
We will participate in the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive and Christmas Toy Drive. These are both voluntary donation drives. No one is required to participate. As we get closer to these events, we will publish the specifics.
Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and generosity!
Congratulations to SMM October Students of the Month
Students of the Month are selected by their teachers because the students are good role models, great friends to their classmates, work and study hard, and are helpful, kind and caring towards everyone.

TEACHER FEATURE: Megan Walker
Hi, My Name Is Megan Walker and This Is My Story
I was born and raised in Slidell. I am a proud SMM graduate. I attended Pope John Paul II High School and Southeastern Louisiana University where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Education. I have been teaching for 7 years and this is my second year at SMM. I teach Middle School ELA and Reading. I am also the moderator of NJHS and the Cheer Team.
As a student at SMM, Mrs. Norma Ladner inspired me to teach middle school. She taught 7th and 8th grade Social Studies and had the most understanding, calm, respectable personality. I knew then that my goal in life was to be a teacher at SMM in her classroom. A lot of people ask me, "Why junior high?" Junior high is an important time in life and I love working with students during that time where they need some of the most support. They're old enough to know but still young enough to still want to talk to you. Each class I've ever taught has stayed with me and I learn so much more from them than I could ever teach.
When I am not at SMM, I'm always with my friends and family. Whether it's on the water in the boat, or on the couch watching movies, I'm always with people. I love crafting and working with vinyl projects or shopping around town. I am married to Hunter, a veteran, and we have one son, Nicholas, and one fur-baby. I am currently in graduate school pursuing my Master's degree. I am also a local real estate agent. I like to stay busy, but will always take a break for chips and salsa!
My favorite thing about SMM is its "magical" community. It's so hard to explain, but the sense of tradition, faith, and pride just overflows as soon as you step on campus.
