From the Principal's Desk
Dear EACS Parents,
We have reached the first four weeks of school showing extreme compassion, grace, and capability. I appreciate the team work and drive that we exhibit for our students in our school. Our first PLC was very much needed for our teachers and the preparation it takes to be better academic instructors here at EACS. Your support means a lot! Way to go!
There are many opportunities to earn those volunteer hours. Please check the newsletter out for links to sign up for different activities. Bring your skills, talents, and enthusiasm. Know that we, the staff and I, appreciate all that you do. It's great to be an EAGLE!
This week's newsletter is packed with a lot of information! Happy reading!

They will fill out a form we create with their order, a P.E. teacher and principal signature and we'll order and purchase for them and have it delivered. A small poster and explanation letter about this will also be sent to every ASD elementary school P.E. teacher soon.
Let's support them as we would like to eventually do the same here at Eagle Academy Charter School soon!

National Hispanic Heritage Month
SEPT 15 - OCT 15
According to the 2020 National Census, an estimated 18.7% of the American population identified as Hispanic/Latino. That is 62.1 million people, an increase from 50.5 million people in 2010, which equates to a huge 23% jump. The contributions of Americans of Hispanic and/or Latino heritage should be recognized and celebrated all year long—their history is our shared American history.

Alaska Safe Children's Act
The Alaska Safe Children’s Act (informally known as Erin’s and Bree’s Law) is made up of two separate pieces of legislation and went into effect on June 30, 2017.
AS 14.30.355 (Erin’s Law)
Erin’s Law Education is comprised of quarterly grade level lessons that are approximately 5-30 minutes long. Combined, these lessons meet the full requirements for student training under the Alaska Safe Children’s Act, Erin’s Law, and are designed to help prevent childhood sexual abuse.
AS 14.30.356 (Bree’s Law)
Bree’s Law Education is comprised of three separate age and developmentally appropriate bands for grades 7/8, 9/10 and 11/12. Each grade band contains 5 modules that are approximately 30-45 minutes long. It meets the full requirements for student training under the Alaska Safe Children’s Act, including requirements for Bree’s Law and Erin’s Law and is designed to help prevent childhood sexual abuse and teen dating abuse.
The five modules for each grade are organized around the following topics:
Module 1: Defining Healthy Relationships (30-45 minutes)
Module 2: Building Healthy Relationships (30-45 minutes)
Module 3: Defining Unhealthy Relationships (30-45 minutes)
Module 4: Warning Signs (30-45 minutes)
Module 5: Help and Support (30-45 minutes)
We have planned instruction for Friday, September 29, 2023. Classroom teachers will be sending home information regarding instructional lessons required by the Safe Children’s Act in the next few weeks (a minimum of 2 weeks prior to instruction). Lesson materials will be available for parent preview upon parental request.
Elementary Parents,
If you are opting out, please make arrangements to pick your child(ren) up at 1:30 pm on Friday, September 29.
Middle School Parents,
If you are opting out, your child(ren) will be supervised in another middle school classroom during the hour informational.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask your child(ren)'s teacher.
The law also allows parents to choose not to have their child participate in the program. We encourage you to at least preview the lesson materials before making a decision. If you have any questions, please contact Principal Mills at the front office (907) 742-3025.
It's the Law!
