Principal Message
Greetings, Ride Families!
We hosted our first Math/Science Family night in three years. It is such a great night where teachers put together math and science activities for the kids and families to come to school and participate. Thank you to so many of you who came out to enjoy our family night. Many of the activities you can do at home. You can even have a math/science night one night a week at home. Kids love that!!
We also enjoyed Go Texan Day today on Friday, Feb. 23rd! It was an amazing day at Ride! The kids and staff dressed in their best western wear and many teachers had special activities to support Go Texan Day in their classrooms. PE taught some western dance (moves) and a couple of fun western themed games! The Houston Livestock and Rodeo is a great family friendly event. I hope you get the opportunity to go and experience the largest rodeo in the United States! Mr. Cummings and the PTO hospitality committee provided some of the best homemade smoked chicken ever for our wonderful teachers and staff!! Thank you for sharing your incredible cooking (BBQ) talents with us. The teachers and staff were so grateful and very appreciative to have such a wonderful meal.
Next week is also a big week… We have the Fourth Grade Music Showcase Thursday, the Mainstreet Theater performing “Click, Clack, Moo,” on Friday, Friday is also the beginning of Dr. Seuss Week, which will be March 1st – 8th. We are having a school wide celebration of his influence on reading. Dr. Seuss’s birthday is March 2nd and it is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually. At Ride, we love an opportunity to celebrate reading.
You can tell we are entering the Spring season at elementary! Many fun activities are coming up, including, field trips, grade level programs and Spring Break! Testing season is fast approaching for our older students in 3rd and 4th grade. This is a very important time of the year – my favorite learning point is that there is a time for fun and a time to focus on learning.
Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Megan Burnham
