FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
As we enter October, we have a new virtue of the month. This month, students are learning about the virtue of studiousness, seeking knowledge to grow closer to the Truth. See the Virtue Corner below for more information, including our optional home projects. In addition, the Saint of the Month for grades 3-5 is St. Thomas Aquinas, a saint whose writings have been particularly meaningful for me in my own faith life. Particularly, I find this short prayer of his to be a beautiful reminder of that to which we are called:
“Grant me, O Lord, a mind to know you, a heart to seek you, wisdom to find you, conduct pleasing to you, and faithful perseverance in waiting for you. Amen."
In the week ahead, may we all seek to have a mind that knows God and a heart that seeks Him with faithful perseverance!
Aquinas also once wrote that "there is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship." Our new Friendzy program couldn't agree more! We're continuing with Unit 1 - "We Need Each Other" over the next two weeks. For more information, and to see how you can continue the Friendzy conversation at home with your student, please see the Friendzy Parent Newsletter here. I'll be sending home a Newsletter at the start of each Unit with the new theme and catchphrase, so stay tuned!

Photos from the Week
After participating in a blindfold activity where they needed to lead their classmates through an obstacle course (don't worry, it was on flat ground!), we discussed the question:
"What is better, shouting at your friends from the sidelines, or walking with them in the journey of life?"
Extended Day Information
As a reminder, the Extended Day Policies and Procedures can be found here. When picking up for extended day, please call the extended day line at 401-262-0271. An extended day staff person will direct you to the appropriate pick-up location either the west wing/middle school entrance (to the left of the main entrance) or an outdoor play space.
