Good Things
- Thank you to everyone who came out for the February Coffee with the Principals event. We enjoyed updating you on all of the great things that are happening at FHMS and were happy to answer your questions. Our next coffee will be in March-more information to come!
- Dr. Mehlberg and I were honored to attend the PTSA Founders Day Luncheon with our PTSA president, Sarah Mertel, on Friday.

Thank you to our fabulous parent volunteers who served up delicious 422 sundaes for students with a 3.3 GPA or higher: Beth Danielson, Jacob Barker, Cami Roth, Shannon Harry, Stefanie Sandbo, Allison Dunmire, and Sarah Mertel. We couldn't have done it without you!

Needs:
- Please consider volunteering on the PTSA board for the 2022-2023 school year. You can even volunteer with a friend, as all board positions can be shared by two people. We really need members to step up and take a leadership role. Without your help, PTSA cannot exist. To nominate yourself or someone else, go to Nomination Form. For questions, contact Kristen Dorwin at kdorwin@gmail.com.
- FHMS is collecting new and gently used games for the students to play during lunch. See the list of requested games and sign up here: Sign Up Genius Link.
- Stock the staff lounge with snacks! The mid-winter doldrums have set in. Let's spark some heat and show FHMS staff how much we care by helping them fuel up with delicious snacks and treats in the staff lounge! Sign up at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080D49A9A628A2F94-stock1

Supporting Students with Recent World Events
Considering recent events in Ukraine, we want to remind our students, staff and families that we understand that issues outside of our classrooms have an impact on our daily experiences in schools. We have families with both Ukrainian and Russian heritage in our community who may be experiencing strong emotions about what is happening. Our schools are diligently working to ensure students feel a sense of safety and belonging when they arrive on campus.
We acknowledge with any world conflict our service members’ families are highly impacted. We acknowledge the hardship your family may be experiencing in navigating this conflict.
World events like these offer educators and communities like ours the chance to show our humanity. As an LWSD community, we will stay diligent around how to support our schools, students and staff around the unfolding events in Ukraine. The coming days and weeks will impact all of us in ways we may not have experienced before. We will work hard with schools to address the concerns, thoughts and feelings your students may be experiencing. As of right now, we recommend that students reach out to a trusted adult at their school to express their thoughts and feelings so we can provide them with appropriate support.
Calling on Career Day Presenters
Counselors are in need of people for our Virtual Career Day. They are looking for 5-minute videos, or they can interview you, about your profession. If this is something you can do, please reach out to either Gail Lee at gvecchiet@lwsd.org or Kirstin Doughty at kdoughty@lwsd.org for more details. They need to have these in hand by March 25th, so they are ready to go by April 19th when we are hosting the event.
