HSD Business Director Earns State Honor
Congratulations to Michelle Scott, HSD Director of Business Services on being named the 2021 Distinguished School Business Official of the Year! This award, sponsored by the Washington Association of School Business Officials (WASBO), recognizes outstanding business officials who implement innovative projects within their district, improve systems and processes to improve efficiencies, and/or forge creative partnerships with their community and improve student learning.
Michelle was selected from a pool of nominees from across the state and will receive a $2,500 scholarship to attend the ASBO International Conference & Expo and recognition at WASBO’s 2021 Annual Conference. Congratulations on your well-deserved recognition, Michelle!
HHES PWT Read-A-Thon continues
Students can log their reading time until April 26. Every reader that participates will receive a bookmark from Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt that, when filled out, can be redeemed at the Battle Ground storefront for a sweet treat!
Money raised as a result of this fundraiser will go towards the refresh of the HHES Library. The PWT plans to purchase paint to create a mural, paint for the walls and doors, supplies, and new furniture that will brighten the HHES library space and develop an environment that will foster avid student readers.

State Testing Postponed to Fall 2021
OSPI has decided not to administer the Smarter Balanced Assessments or the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science this spring. Instead, the State will move our testing window to fall 2021. Groups, Businesses Unite for HSD Earth Day Cleanup Event
It is spring, it is sunny, and Earth Day is just around the corner! It is a perfect time for a clean up to beautify our schools and community. On Sunday, April 18, volunteers from People Working Together, Hockinson Main Street Team, Hockinson Citizens for Better Schools, and Hockinson Schools are organizing the 2021 Earth Day Cleanup to remove trash and weeds on and around HSD campuses and prepare these sites for some exciting enhancements. These projects include the installation of a bench near the HMS track, a natural play area at the Hockinson Community Center, and the planting of native plants and flowers this fall.
