This Is How We Lakeview
July 2023 Edition: Volume 4
Latest Updates
The excitement of the new school year hasn't waned as our students are getting hands-on experiences with activities in the classroom and engaging with our Sustained Silent Reading time.
Thank you to our families for starting off the year strong with our morning drop-off. Understanding the lanes and allowing buses to get through the line has really helped us speed up the process and get students into the school with enough time to get to first period. Please continue to use the left lane for drop-off only when someone is directing cars into that lane. We need to make sure buses are through the line first.
As always, if there is anything we can help with, please let us know either through email or the Family Feedback Form that is linked below.

Reminders for Visitors to the Building
Our policy for visitors is continuing from last year, but I am including this as a reminder and an update for families new to Lakeview.
Any visitor to the building will not be let in without a previously scheduled appointment. If you are picking up your student for any reason, please ensure that you have your identification ready to show the camera, and we will send your student out to you. At times, we may not ask to see your ID if we can see you through the camera and recognize you. If you are not listed in Infinite Campus, the student will not be released, unless we have received permission from the listed parent(s)/guardian(s).
It also is helpful to the front office if you call ahead to let us know you will be picking up your student early. This way, we can try to have your student in the office already, and we will know to expect you around a certain time.
If you are needing to drop something off to your student, please ring the bell and we will assist you. You will be asked to place the item you have in the container by the door, and we will come out to retrieve it.
We appreciate your cooperation as we continue to provide a safe and secure environment for our students!
A Reminder of Fan Expectations
As a reminder, all K-8 students wanting to attend any home varsity football game this year must be accompanied by an adult to get into the stadium. The only exception is junior high football players or cheerleaders who are in uniform.
While in the stadium, we expect students to behave appropriately and to be sitting either with family/friends in the main bleachers or be sitting in the junior high student section, which is a separate set of bleachers located next to the high school student section. Junior high students are not to be running under/behind the bleachers or standing in the open area near concessions (unless in line for food). District staff will be on site to direct students to the bleachers.

Morning Drop-Off Procedures - Front of the School
Please keep in mind that traffic can get extremely backed up in the morning. Being stuck in traffic is not an excused tardy, so please plan accordingly. You can start dropping off students as early as 6:45 am; they will just wait by the main office until 7:00 am to be let into the rest of the building.
- There is a split lane in front of the school.
- The lane next to the curb is for drop off only.
- The lane to the left is for parking only.
- Please DO NOT park and drop off your student. If you are parking and coming into the building with your student, please walk with your child to cross the flow of traffic.
- Your child should be prepared to exit the car when stopped anywhere along the white dividing line.
- If traffic does not stop, you should pull all the way up to the white sign that says “Student Drop-Off Zone”
- Students can enter through the main doors near the office or through Door Y (to the right of the main office).
- Please only use the left lane for drop-off when someone is at the front and directing cars into that lane. We have to wait for all the busses to come through the lane before allowing cars to drop-off.
This plan is designed to make drop-off safe for our students and more efficient for our parents. We appreciate your cooperation and help in keeping our students safe.

Reminder from the School Nurse
Per PLSD policy, medication must be delivered and picked up by a parent/guardian. Students should not be storing or transporting medication in their book bag. The correct paperwork must be completed and the medication needs to be in the original container and not expired. Please call (614) 830-2203 if you have any questions.
Prescription Medications
In the event your child needs to take prescription medication while at school, the Request for Administration of Medication by School Personnel form must be completed by the child's physician and parents/guardians.
Non-prescription Medications
These medications, such as Advil, Tylenol, cough drops, etc., may be administered to students if the parent/guardian brings in the medication along with written permission for the medication to be given. All medications must be sent in the original container. Dosages cannot exceed manufacturer's recommendations for age and weight. We must have a note from the doctor to give a dose of medication that is different from the dose stated on the bottle.
