GES Grey Wolf Gazette
August 27, 2021
Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year! Here We Go!!
Dear Greenfield Families and Friends,
Happy Friday! I can't believe it's the last weekend of our summer break already! We've had a busy and productive week here at GES and are just about ready to welcome everyone to school next week!
The Grey Wolf Gazette is now available on our website under the What's Happening button. You will be able to find previous editions by clicking on the View All News button. No more scrolling through your email to find the newsletter. I will be sending out a newsletter on the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month or whenever we have special events happening!
Don't forget our Open House on Monday, August 30th at 4:00pm. Weather permitting, we will meet outside for popsicles and then small groups will be able to come inside and visit classrooms. Students and families who are new to GES will also be given a tour of the building. Masks are required inside the building. We are looking forward to seeing everyone!
Stay tuned for information about joining the GES PTO! We will have details about meeting dates and times ready to go at the Open House on Monday! Don't forget to get your Fall Mum Orders back to us at GES by Friday, September 10th! No late orders will be accepted. Mums will be delivered to GES on Monday, September 13th.
Bus routes can be found here: https://cvsdtransport.wixsite.com/mysite/greenfield. If your address is not on any of the routes, please contact Amy Wing at awing@ridesta.com or call the bus company at 924-9211.
Please find the revised Reopening Plan for the ConVal District attached below. I encourage you to read the plan and reach out with any questions you may have. We are planning to begin school in the Green Phase and masks are required for all staff and students indoors. Please be sure to send your child to school with extra masks each day. We do have plenty here in case anyone forgets! Masks will not be required outdoors and we will utilize outdoor learning spaces as much as possible this fall!

The ConVal School District has news blog to serve as a hub for the latest updates, information and news about the district’s schools, students, faculty, events and accomplishments.
The blog, ConValNews.com is integrated into the schools and District’s Facebook and Twitter accounts and will automatically broadcast news blog content onto these platforms, connecting directly with the district community.
With a clean, user-friendly and mobile responsive layout, the news blog allows for easy navigation throughout. It can be accessed on computers, cell phones and tablets. Community members can subscribe and be notified by email when new posts are published.
Parents/guardians, students, staff, and community members should still utilize the district’s main website, Convalsd.net, to access the District-wide calendar of events, contact information, school committee meeting notices and minutes, important documents and notices and to view general information about the district and its schools.

Meals to Remain Free For ConVal Students This Year!
Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders is pleased to announce that the United States Department of Agriculture will continue to offer free breakfasts and lunches to all ConVal students through the end of the 2021-22 school year.
“We are so happy to be able to offer this resource to all of our students for another year,” said Superintendent Rizzo Saunders. “Even though meals will be available to students regardless of qualification status, I cannot stress enough how important it is for parents to fill out an application. Doing so allows families to determine if they are eligible for a number of other significant benefits.”
Families that complete an application will have the opportunity to learn about their potential eligibility for other benefits, including discounted or waived academic testing and college application fees, reduced cost broadband internet access and the pandemic EBT program.
Data from the program is also used to determine the amount of funding that is provided to the district for programs, such as Title I and e-rate reimbursement, which is used to fund technology. Additionally, the data is used by other federal and private grant foundations to award funding to the district, as well as towns within the district.
Only one application should be completed per household.
For more information about the program, please email Lori Schmidt at lschmidt@conval.edu
Questions regarding dietary concerns or meals should be directed to Katelyn Moore at conval@freshpickscafe.com.
