MCS Facilities Flash

Stay in the know about what is happening with facilities and projects around the Medina City School District.

Summer is a busy time of the year around the District, with several projects happening to keep our facilities in good shape. Below is an update on some of the projects that are underway or almost complete.

The majority of the projects are part of a facilities plan that is reviewed on a regular basis and paid for using sales tax dollars.

Replacement of the roof on the Evolve Academy began shortly after the last day of school. This project was necessary as the roof had come to the end of its useful life.

Water damage to the northeast corner of the front of the building was repaired at Blake Elementary.

A section of the roof at Canavan Elementary is being replaced due to the section heaving last year. Part of the replacement process included new insulation, followed by lightweight concrete. A cover sheet was applied to the finished roof.

During the April 24, 2023, regular meeting of the Board of Education, the Board agreed to a collaborative project with the City of Medina to create pickleball courts on one-half of the tennis courts located at A. I. Root Middle School. The cost to build the courts is a joint financial agreement with the City. The courts were started after the end of the school year and are nearing completion.

These courts will be open and available for community use by mid-July, weather pending.
