A message from the principal
The leaves are changing color, we are already halfway through the month of October, and we have so many great things happening around here at CBPA. Thank you for taking the time to connect with your child's school team during conferences. The school-family partnership is a critical component of your child's educational success. Our teachers have been working hard connecting with students and making data-informed instructional decisions to meet the needs of all of our Huskies.
As a reminder, please do not drop your child off prior to 9:10 a.m. There is NO SUPERVISION before this time. If you are waiting in the drop-off line, please ensure your child waits in the vehicle until you are in the drop-off area. Thank you for your support in keeping our students safe.
The fun run was a blast! I was able to sneak out for the kindergarten and beginning of fifth grade time slots. It was so great to see both our youngest and oldest students participating, laughing and dancing. I even got to run a few laps with the kindergarten crew. Thank you to our PTO for organizing such a wonderful event. And, thank you to all who have donated to our fundraiser! There is still time if you are interested in making a donation. Thank you to Compassion Coffee for offering warm beverages for staff and families. They were delicious and sure came in handy on a chilly Thursday!
In specialty school happenings, the Master Gardeners worked with fifth grade to harvest the garden plots and prepare them for spring. They also evaluated the success of various plots and learned about the signs of insect damage to plants. The Naturalists from Three Rivers Park did a lesson with kindergarten students about their senses and how to use them to notice changes in the seasons. They practiced by exploring the wooded area off the bus loop.
Finally, many classrooms will be holding fall parties at the end of the month. These parties will be fall-themed so as to be welcoming to all, and will include some specialty school elements including Ninja Math for our fourth and fifth grade students. Fall is a fantastic time of year, and we are thrilled to celebrate the season.

Fun was had by all at the Husky Fun Run fundraiser on Friday! Thank you for your continued support, these funds go right back to our students! The fundraiser is open for one more week, we are at $32,000 of our $35,000 goal! If we reach our goal, teachers get a coffee bar and that husky gets a good bath! Shout out to Hannah T from 4Wi for the Husky Needs a Bath graphic!
Volunteer news
Hello CBPA volunteers!
What a busy week we had this past week with our annual fun run. Thank you to Katie Maas and Katie Snell who coordinated this event. Thank you to the volunteers who helped with the prize organizing and distribution, our student fun run t-shirt distribution and the day of volunteers! Thanks to those who came out and cheered the kids on while running and thank you for your monetary donations. What a great event!
Thank you to our kindergarten volunteers who chaperoned the apple orchard field trip. The teachers certainly appreciated all the extra hands for the fun field trip!
Please see below for what help is currently needed for the rest of October:
Making Spirits Bright (pre-work): Our making spirits bright program is our school wide compassion project in which food and non food items are donated to families in need of our CBPA community. More information about this project will come home next month from Mrs. Nettleton, our school social worker. Help is needed the week of October 23rd for cutting of die cuts and writing wishes on the die cuts. Please click on the link below for more information and to sign up:

Ninja Math Warrior Day: On Tuesday, 10/31 our 4th and 5th grade classes will be participating in a ninja math warrior day! Ninja United is coming out and planning math activities and obstacles for our students to perform at 8 different stations. Volunteers are needed to be at each station to monitor that students are writing down the data they collect. One volunteer is needed per station and each shift is one hour long. Volunteers are also needed for set up and take down on that day as well. Please click on the link below to see what times are available and sign up to help be a part of this fun and exciting event:

Fall Party Volunteers: CBPA students in grades K-4th will be having a fall party celebration on Tuesday, October 31st. Teachers will be planning the party events/activities and will be looking for parent volunteers to come in that day to help set up, run the events/activities and help clean up. Please note, not all grade levels are looking for parent volunteer assistance on that day. All party volunteers need to have completed their volunteer paperwork for this school year in order to assist. To see what classrooms need help, when the party will be held and how many volunteers are needed, please click on the link below for more details and to sign up to help:
October Lunchroom: We will continue to recruit volunteers each month to help in the lunchroom. Volunteers are needed to help with getting the students through the serving line, assisting them while they are eating, helping them during lunch dismissal and wiping down tables. The time is 11 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. However, if you are not able to commit to the entire time - that is ok - we will take whatever time you are willing to offer. Just note in your signup what time you will be volunteering! Please click on the links below to see what days help is needed:

PTO Updates
On Monday, October 16, we are hosting a representative from the BCA on Zoom at 5pm to speak on Online Blackmail - Sextortion, Online Enticement, and Internet Safety. Sextortion and online enticement are increasingly prevalent forms of cybercrime that exploit individuals, particularly children and vulnerable adults, through the use of digital communication and manipulation. This course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of sextortion and online enticement, their underlying dynamics, and effective prevention and response strategies. Participants will gain insights into the psychological and technological aspects of these crimes and learn how to safeguard themselves and others from falling victim to such threats. Join us for this important discussion and bring your questions. Zoom Link for 5pm on Monday, October 16.
