Hello Everyone,

We are in full February mode. Our Kindness Day celebration was a success. I bestowed the super power of kindness on all of the students and staff. They glowed with it all day.

Read Across America is coming up in March. If you would like to read in your child's class, please contact the teacher. You will need to be a Level 1 Volunteer, you can request paperwork from your child's teacher.

As we continue along in observance of Black History Month, it's important to recognize the struggle and the contributions of brave black children. This past week Mr. Serrato's third grade class learned about Ayanna Najuma who was seven. After a trip to New York city, where she saw blacks and whites eating together, she became part of a group of children who staged a sit in at cafes and resturants in Oklahoma City. The students were so engaged learning that they to could do something and make a difference.

We need more PTA members! We've all enjoyed the events this year. In order for these events to keep happening we need new and more PTA members. Worried about your language skills? Not a problem, we will work that out. Our students tend to play together during the meetings, so feel free to bring them along. You can email corvalliselementarypta@gmail.com for more information.

Every school day is a day of learning for our students. It's important that students are in class on time and ready to learn. Our students line up at 8:33 and are in classrooms at 8:35.

Students entering the building from 8:35-8:45 will be greeted by our staff and given a tardy slip to take to class. After 8:45 students will report to the office to obtain a tardy slip.

If your child will not attend school on a particular day you may email cor.att@slzusd.org or call 510-317-4999. Please leave a voice mail. Our office checks it several times a day.

Many of our students suffer anxiety. As a parent, I know how helpless we can feel when our children are suffering. Here is an article that talks about some things parents can do at home. Please reach out to your child's teacher to discuss your concerns. We want to help you and your child work through the anxiety and enjoy school.
