Self-Paced Coding Software
Dear Parents,
We are thrilled to share some exciting news regarding an incredible opportunity for our lions. As part of our commitment to providing a well-rounded education that equips students with essential skills for the future, we are introducing a new self-paced coding software, Tynker, which is now accessible to all students.
Coding is a valuable skill that goes beyond just programming computers. It fosters creativity,
enhances problem-solving abilities, and develops critical thinking skills. Moreover, it has been proven to positively impact academic performance in areas such as writing and math. We believe that introducing coding at an early age sets the foundation for success in various fields and prepares our students for the ever-evolving digital landscape.
The Tynker software is designed to make coding engaging and accessible for all students. It offers a self-paced coding course that students can access conveniently from school or home using their
Chromebooks. This flexibility allows students to explore the world of coding at their own pace,
encouraging independent learning and problem-solving.
To access the Tynker software, students simply need to log in to their accounts on my.cfisd.net and
click on the Tynker icon. Once they are in the Tynker platform, they can explore a variety of coding
activities and lessons tailored to their grade level. The platform provides a user-friendly interface,
making it easy for students to navigate and enjoy the learning process.
We encourage you to take a moment to explore Tynker with your child and engage in conversations
about the exciting possibilities that coding can offer. By incorporating coding into their learning journey, we aim to empower our students with skills that will benefit them throughout their academic and professional lives.
Thank you for your continued partnership in fostering a love for learning and preparing our students
for success.
Sincerely,
Sage Papaioannou

District of Innovation
House Bill 1842, passed during the 84th Legislative Session, permits Texas public school districts to become Districts of Innovation and to obtain exemptions from certain provisions of the Texas Education Code that are available to open charter enrollment schools.
On October 9, 2023, the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD School Board approved a resolution to initiate the process of becoming a District of Innovation, held a public hearing on Districts of Innovation and agreed to have the members of the Districtwide Educational Improvement Council (DEIC) serve as the District of Innovation Committee. The committee met on October 19, 2023, November 2, 2023, and November 14, 2023 to develop the proposed plan.
The proposed plan is posted on the district website for 30 days from November 17, 2023 to December 16, 2023, and a public meeting will be held on December 14, 2023, for stakeholders to give feedback on the proposed plan.
Upon approval of the proposed plan by the Districtwide Educational Improvement Council (majority vote required to pass), the proposed plan will be placed on the CFISD Board of Trustees agenda for consideration in January 2024 (2/3 majority to pass).
To view the proposed plan click here.
To sign up to speak about the proposed plan during the public meeting on December 14, 2023, at 4:30 pm at the Mark Henry Administration Building 11440 Matzke Road Cypress, TX 77429 click here.
This week we learned our next key of excellence, Failure Leads to Success. This key teaches students to view failures as feedback. Learning to look at mistakes as an experience to grow from instead of sending ourselves negative messages is a step toward success. The only real failure is not learning from our mistakes. The key to success is to look carefully at what went wrong, change what we did the first time, and try again by applying what we learned.
