Dear Coppell ISD Community,
February is Black History Month, and I always enjoy the vibrant and meaningful activities taking place across our schools during this important observance. The schools in CISD have been celebrating in a variety of ways, and I recently had the opportunity to join some of the Coppell ISD Trustees on one of our regular Board Learning Walks, and last week's visit to Coppell Middle School East was particularly insightful. We were able to delve into the impressive Black History Month initiatives happening at the school and also gained valuable insights into the school's commitment to providing learning interventions and support for our students.
Our district continues to prioritize our core value of engagement at every level, and these Board Learning Walks offer a unique chance to connect with the heart of our educational community. It provides the board members and district administrators with the ability to observe our students in action and support our teachers with their important work. By actively participating in these walks, we not only stay informed but also witness firsthand the incredible work happening each day in our schools.
Engagement has also been an important part of our Strategic Planning process. The Strategic Plan will be presented to CISD Trustees at our Board Meeting on Monday night. Our Strategic Planning efforts are a culmination of work that engaged our parents, teachers and staff, students, and community members who came together to work on the plans and actions that will help shape our future under the Coppell 2030 umbrella. I want to thank everyone for their time and commitment to help shape the future of our district.
Transitioning to our core value of great teaching, also at Monday’s Board meeting, we will be recognizing our campus Teachers of the Year. Our teachers do amazing things in our district to ensure our students receive an amazing education, and I am so proud that we get to recognize these incredible teachers for what they do each day.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire Coppell ISD community for your ongoing support. Together, we are building a nurturing and enriching environment for our students and educators alike.
Sincerely,
Dr. Brad Hunt
Superintendent, Coppell ISD

Early Voting Runs From Feb. 20 to March 1 for March 2024 Primary Election
Texas will hold a primary election in March. Early voting runs from Feb. 20 to March 1, and the last day to apply to vote by mail is Feb. 23. Election Day is March 5.
March primary elections, in many cases, will determine who represents you in the Texas Legislature. State and local elections have a direct impact on our lives and our community. Please exercise your civic responsibility as a voter during this 2024 election year. Voting not only gives us a voice in our democracy, but it also demonstrates the importance of using that voice for students. The March 5 Texas primary elections are fast approaching, giving all of us a critical opportunity to decide who will be on the ballot in November.
Only 18 percent of registered Texas voters participated in our state’s last primary, which was in March 2022. In other words, most voters do not participate in these often-decisive elections. Please consider voting in the primary election of your choice this spring. Learn about the candidates and decide where you want your voice heard most.
