Greetings AOC Families,

I hope that you had a restful weekend! We made it to the last week of the term. Here is the AOC Final Exams schedule for the week of 12/12. Our school is open during final exams. If students need a place to work, our computer lab is open every day. During AOC final exams week, students only have to attend their assigned final exam time.

As you know, many people are sick this time of year, whether with COVID or the flu. This is compounded by the number of people traveling. Please monitor your student's health and keep them home if they are sick.

• December 10th- Last day of the COC semester
• December 12th-16th- AOC Final Exams, students only attend final exams.
• December 15th, Thursday- Last day of the semester and finals
• December 16th, Friday- Teacher work day
• December 16th- January 6th- Winter Break
• January 9th- Classes Resume for AOC classes
• January 3rd- First day of COC winter session (for upper grades only)
• January 16th- Martin Luther King holiday, no school
• February 4th- Last day of COC winter term
• February 6th- First day of COC spring term (all students)

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health invites you to join the upcoming interactive Public Health Ambassador Training – Fentanyl/Naloxone Part II: Let’s Talk More About Youth Opioid Prevention. Parents, guardians and students will learn effective communication skills to confidently talk to one another about opioids, such as Fentanyl. Participants will have the opportunity to practice their learned skills through multiple scenarios, facilitated by a public health physician, in partnership with the Substance Abuse Prevention and Control Unit. Located on the campus of College of the Canyons, AOC is proud to be the middle college high school in the William S. Hart Union High School District serving students 9th-12th grades in the Santa Clarita Valley. Students have the opportunity to earn between 24 and 44 transferable college units, prior to receiving their high school diplomas. Upon graduation, the majority of Academy students pursue their post high school education by continuing at COC and completing their college transfer requirements in only one year after high school. Other AOC students go directly into a four-year university, bringing their community college units with them and placing themselves well into their freshman and sophomore years at the college level. While attending AOC as a high school student, community college tuition is waived for established California residents.
