Principal Zeman's Notes
November 3rd, 2023
End of First Quarter
We would like to remind you that the end of first quarter is fast approaching with only one week left. We encourage you to continue engaging with your students about their school day. Ask questions, show interest in their progress and provide a listening ear for any concerns they may have. Effective communication between home and school is essential in ensuring your child's success.
If your child is in need of extra support, please do not hesitate to reach out to their teachers. Our educators are here to help and can provide guidance and resources to assist your child in their academic journey.
Lastly, we urge you to motivate and inspire your students to do their best as we approach the end of the quarter. Positive encouragement and setting goals can make a significant difference in their academic performance and overall well-being.
Together, as a collaborative community, we can help our students end the quarter on a positive note and set them up for continued success in their educational journey. Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement.
Airpods
We would like to encourage all of our students to keep their AirPods at home. AirPods have been one of the most commonly lost items at VMS, and we understand that they can be quite expensive to replace.
We want to remind everyone that while technology can be a helpful tool, students do not need to use AirPods at school. In fact, using them during class time can be distracting and disruptive to the learning environment. We have a responsibility to create a focused and inclusive educational setting for all students.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter. Your support is essential in helping us maintain a positive and productive school environment.

Initial Tri-Elk-a-Thon Parent Meeting
If you’re interested in helping with planning our Inaugural Tri-Elk-a-Thon, please join us in the VandenBerge Media Center on Wednesday, November 15 at 7:00. If you’re interested in volunteering but are not able to attend the meeting, please contact Mike Zeman at michael.zeman@isd728.org.
Health Office Donation Requests
Our health office needs clothing. Middle School can be a messy time and our students sometimes need emergency clothing that is in good condition: sweatpants, sweatshirts, underwear, socks, t-shirts. We also need toiletries: toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, etc. Donations can be dropped off in the main office.
