The Eagle Eye
Children are the heart of Imlay!
Dear Imlay Families,
A Message from Mrs. McCalley, Principal
Thank you for attending conferences last week! We hope the conversation was helpful and provided answers to any questions you had. Remember, if you have questions about your child's class, reach out directly to the teacher through email, Google Voice (during school hours) or Remind. All three methods are great ways to stay in contact with your child's teacher.
Many questions have arisen regarding the return to school survey which was sent out earlier. We will be using this data to plan for primary students to return to school when the COVID case counts in Washington County allow schools to move to hybrid instruction. Until then, we will remain in Comprehensive Distance Learning. If you have any further questions, please reach out to me!
Yours in Eagle Pride,
Principal McCalley

Return to School Update
As you know, the Governor held a news conference last Friday announcing new restrictions in Oregon. Please see this link for an overview of the new restrictions. Here is what we currently know regarding how the restrictions will impact schools:
- We will continue to support ALL Imlay students in the comprehensive distance learning model, until the metrics support returning to in-person learning
- Schools should be closed to the general public (including playgrounds)
- Supply pick up and food pantry distribution will continue
As a school community, we miss our kids terribly, and we are anxious to return to in-person learning. Here are some helpful tips outlined in an email sent to families and staff last week. Together, we can have an impact on reversing the trend of upward case counts, and get the kids back in person sooner:
- Wear a mask
- Maintain at least 6 feet of physical space between yourself and others
- Limit interactions with people outside of your immediate household
- Cover your coughs and sneezes
- Wash hands and use hand sanitizer frequently
- Stay home if you don't feel well
Imlay's Thankful Tree
We are writing what everyone is thankful for on a leaf and posting it to our Thankful Tree in the gym window. We are also sharing photos of the tree in Morning Announcements.
Each student who fills out the form will earn one point for their nest!
November is Native American Heritage Month
November is Native American Heritage Month, a time for us to recognize and celebrate the many contributions of first Americans to the establishment and growth of the U.S. The first “American Indian Day” was held in May 1916 in New York state. In 1990, President George H.W. Bush declared the month of November “Native American Indian Heritage Month” across the country. Similar nationwide proclamations have been made each year, under slight name variations, since 1994.
