OLVCS Updates
December 7th, 2023
Dear OLVCS Parents and Friends,
As the Advent season continues, preparations for Christmas live out at the school. Ornaments are hung on the tree, decorations line the halls, and St. Nick blessed us with a visit along with his St. Joe’s student helpers. Students are also preparing their hearts by performing acts of kindness and service within our school and beyond. What a gift it is to celebrate the birth of Jesus in a Catholic school.
Feast of the Immaculate Conception: Mass tomorrow, Friday, @ 10:00 am. Please remember Mass uniforms.
Christmas Concert: Wednesday, December 13th @ 6:30 in the Church. Students should arrive between 6:10 - 6:20. All elementary students attend, participate, and wear Mass uniforms. K- 5 students sit with their class, unless they are in band or strings. Look for more information next week.
Flexible Instruction Days: Known as FIDs, it is an instruction format that the school utilizes when there is advanced notice that school will not be in session, most often, a weather disturbance (ie: a snow day). These days count as an instructional school day. Parents will be notified of an FID via School Messenger (text/email/phone call)
Kindergarten: packets have been sent home with instructions, look for an email
1st - 5th: teachers will send an email with assignments
6th - 8th: teachers will prepare assignments via Schoology or email; students should check both.
Teachers will hold office hours two times during the day for students who need clarification or help. These office hours are typically; 9:00 - 10:00 am or 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Teachers will send a link and instructions.

We do not have any ‘built in’ snow days within the 2023-24 school calendar. If we are to take a non-FID snow day, each day that is called off will need to be added in June to ensure the 180 required instruction days.
It is our belief that a FID, while not ideal for instruction, is more productive than a day in June.
Make it a Great Day!
