What's Up At The Nest...
Principal's Message
Dear OMS Families,
We can't believe that May 1st is around the corner. This year certainly seems to be flying by. Our school calendar is jam packed with activities and events as we wrap up the year. This week our students celebrated Poem in Your Pocket Day with an assembly (that was paid for back in 2020!) and traded poems with classmates and buddy classes. Our 5th graders also enjoyed working and learning about many Arlington Heights businesses on their World of Work field trip. Scroll down to enjoy a few pictures of today's trip.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Local Poet, Isaac Miller From the Poetry Center Kicked Off Poem In Your Pocket Day Celebrations!
It was a fun way to celebrate Poem In Your Pocket Day with a visit from Chicago-area poet, Isaac Ginsberg Miller from The Poetry Center. He recited poems from famous poets such as Maya Angelou, Naomi Shihab Nye, Jacqueline Woodson, and Shel Silverstein. Then, he invited student audience members to contribute lines for a group collaborative poem. Thank you to the PTA for sponsoring his visit.
Students and staff members traded and shared poems all day long on our Poem in Your Pocket Day. Each student chose a poem to type and carry in his/her pocket. During scheduled trading times during the day, they read their poems aloud and traded them to students from a different class. See more photos of Poem In Your Pocket Day on this page of the LMC website.

Please consider clicking the link to purchase yours!
Purchasing school supplies through the PTA is not required, families are welcome to purchase items on their own. Click HERE to see a list of school supplies needed for each grade level.
