๐ Teacher of the Year
The Sherman School Teachers were collectively awarded as "Teacher of the Year" for 2020-2021. In order to properly celebrate each of our teachers, we are highlighting a different teacher each week. Please join us in congratulating our Teacher of the Year for Week #28, Mrs. Jen Rianhard! ๐
โ๏ธ This Week In Our Classrooms
Thank you to our staff and students for honoring SEL Day on Friday, March 11, by wearing our school colors. SEL Day is focused on supporting Social Emotional Learning in our schools. Quotes focused on positivity and wellness were read by 8th grader Eden Bruzinski, during morning announcements. The quotes focused on kindness, unity, and self appreciation.

โ๏ธ SEL in Preschool
On SEL day, Ms. Krystiโs class did a class lesson and activity about โBeautiful Oops!โ, written by Barney Saltzberg. The story is focused on the concept that when you have made a mistake, think of it as an opportunity to make something beautiful. The message is that itโs OK to make a mistake, as a mistake is an adventure in creativity, and a portal of discovery.

โ๏ธ SEL & XP
SEL is important and valued at The Sherman School. Throughout the school year, Second Step lessons have been taught to the Pre-K to 8th grades. Lessons have included the topics of friendships, conflict resolution, empathy, being an upstander, understanding our feelings, regulation, perspective taking, and wellness. The Center for Empowerment and Education (formerly The Womenโs Center) have also provided virtual presentations to our Pre-K to 5th grade classes about care and kindness, healthy friendships, and fostering self esteem. XP courses have included Kindness Rocks with Mrs. Lounsbury and Mindfulness Matters with Ms. Lathrop and Mrs Linero.
๐ธ Mrs. Lounsburyโs XP class Kindness Rocks focuses on creating positive and powerful messages. The Kindness Rocks are located throughout the school.
