The Eagle Edition
Edison Elementary ~ November 2023
Note from the Principals
As the weather continues to get colder outside, please make sure your students are bringing appropriate clothes for outdoor recess (heavy coats, hats, gloves, scarves, etc). We will continue to have outdoor recess all winter long unless the wind chill falls below 20 degrees or if the rain or snow prevents us.
We want to thank Mr. Dave Eberly for joining us at Edison these past several weeks as part of our administrative team. He has been a great addition in the office to support Mrs. Mackey while Mrs. Tracz has been out due to family circumstances. Please reach out to Mrs. Mackey in Mrs. Tracz's absence.
We would like to wish all Edison families a very Happy Thanksgiving! We are thankful our students as well as our families and community partnerships.
Mrs. Tracz, Mrs. Mackey, and Mr. Eberly

Calamity Day Information
With winter weather coming soon, please see the Calamity Day Information provided by the district. Make sure you have your School Messenger set to receive messages as desired.
School Messenger
School Messenger is the automated system used by the Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools to make attendance calls and send district wide messages, such as school closings due to inclement weather, and event reminders. You can manage your account through the parent portal in PowerSchool. It’s simple! You can also identify more than one primary email address to receive notifications. Instructions are being provided for your convenience. The building secretaries can also help with editing your contact information and with questions regarding non-custodial adults, such as significant others, who need to receive messaging.
Crossroads
If you believe your child is experiencing challenges in terms of their mental well-being, it is important to reach out to your principal. To meet your child’s needs, it’s essential to collaborate with the principal and school personnel to explore resources and services available at school. In addition to Crossroads Counselors, the District also has family liaisons and guidance counselors who can provide needed interventions and support.
Here at Edison, we have Mrs. Hanlon, our Family Liaison. We also partner with Crossroads for staff training, and to offer some prevention lessons, like internet safety, for our students.
If you would like to opt out of Crossroads support, please complete and return this form.
Edison Therapy Dog
Some classes and students have had the pleasure of visiting and reading with Quinn the Edison Therapy Dog! We are excited to continue this for our students!
Quinn is a Chocolate Labrador Retriever who has been a registered therapy dog since 2016, as well as an Animal Assisted Crisis Response Dog through Pet Partners. Quinn’s vaccinations, insurance, and registration have been verified, and her handler is a certified professional trainer.
Edison PTO
