Hopefully you all are having a nice weekend and trying to enjoy the snow.

This will be a short week of school for students as they have Friday, April 7 off. Everyone will return on Monday, April 10th.

Dr. Herlofsky will return from military duty and be at school on Monday, April 10.

Anoka-Hennepin's annual Elementary Art Show is March 28th through April 5th and is held at Northtown Mall. Art teachers across the district have selected works for display that can be viewed during mall hours (signs will be up at the mall directing where to see the art). A letter was already sent home with students whose art will be a part of the exhibit, and all are welcome to visit and enjoy the hard work and talent of our students!

A dental sealant event will be taking place at Adams Elementary on May 17th-19th during the school day. This event is free and is available for students in 1st-3rd grade. A consent form, due April 18th, needs to be completed for a student to participate. See the links below for the consent form and information sheets about Dental Sealants. Dental sealants are a thin plastic coating that, when applied properly to the chewing surfaces of molar teeth, protects against tooth decay and cavities. A smooth chewing surface helps protect the tooth from decay by making it easier to clean with a toothbrush, and keeping food and germs out.

Adams will be having our first Diversity Day this coming May. Please see the attached form if you and your family would like to participate. We will send more information about the evening celebration as we get closer to the day.

Come read with us!

KINDERGARTEN: Work with our Kindergartners to build their reading and math skills (2-hour training is provided and required).

1ST GRADE: Come in once a week to help our First Graders with simple reading and math activities.

COKE GIVES: Turn in codes on box flaps (where you open the box to access the cans) or bottle caps so we can enter them and earn money for Adams!

Do you, a grandparent, or your high schooler want to help at Adams? Today is a great day to sign up!

The observance of Ramadan occurs during the ninth month of the islamic calendar by Muslims worldwide as a time of fasting, prayer, reflection and community. The 2023 observance began on March 22 and is expected to end April 20. Muslims in our schools and around the world will be fasting for 30 days from dawn to sunset, forgoing food and water the entire time of Ramadan.

This information is being shared to ensure staff are aware of the timing and potential impact of fasting on students and/or staff. Muslims may wake up early and stay up late for prayer and nourishment during this time. Please encourage understanding and empathy toward fasting students and keep lines of communication open and supportive of student and family needs.

Fasting students may request or be offered accommodations during Ramadan, including spending lunchtime away from the cafeteria or saving treats from celebrations to bring home.

Ramadan ends with a major Muslim holiday, Eid al-Fitr, or the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” which is expected to be observed on Friday, April 21 and or Saturday, April 22. This is a time of celebration that may include morning activities and a community celebration. Food, games and presents for children are also typically included with the festivities.
