STUDENT(S) OF THE MONTH
In September the school focused on Flexibility and our Student(s) of the Month were nominated for demonstrating this trait during the month!
COUNSELOR'S CORNER WITH MS. SERENITY
Now that we have finished up our lessons on the Zones of Regulation and how to get back in the green zone, I encourage you to ask your child what strategies they use to help when they are feeling big, strong emotions. Sharing your own feelings and coping strategies with your child can help them develop even greater emotional intelligence. Lessons for October will focus on empathy, noticing emotions in our bodies and practicing calm down strategies.
Our first grief group of the year is winding down and the students in our Calm Ninjas group are becoming masters at being mellow. On October 5, we will have our first 4th grade girls’ Lunch Bunch group focused on art and emotional resilience. This group is open to all 4th grade girls during lunch and recess on Thursdays and is offered in cooperation with The Girl Scouts of America. All 4th grade girls are welcome but they must have a permission slip on file to participate.

A WORD FROM PRINCIPAL WILSON
Dear Taylor Families,
I am excited to start the month of October! It is always fun to see the changing leaves, pumpkin carvings, and begin to feel the brisk fall weather. As it starts to get colder, please remind your kiddo to dress appropriately to help keep them warm.
Thank you PTO for putting together an awesome walk-a-thon for our school! This was a great way to get a little exercise and raise money to purchase Aquos boards for classrooms. We appreciate everyone’s support! We also had a blast supporting our prior Taylor Tornadoes at the PHS Homecoming parade. Our students and staff enjoyed supporting our community!
In September, our Leadership Team compiled all of the words we received from students, staff, and families around the question, “What values and/or traits do you want your students to embody when they leave Taylor?” Once our team categorized these words by internal and external attributes, they came up with the following: Compassionate & Empathetic, Engaged, Educated, and Community-Focused. Our leadership team will use these words to begin coming up with a statement that exemplifies these attributes for our school.
By now, you should have received the Taylor Tornado 1st Quarter Wellness Champion Challenge. This is a great way for students to engage with their peers in a positive way, feed their brains with movement ideas, choose healthy food options, and do something nice for others. Thank you Mrs. Steele for putting this together for our students!
There are many great things happening through the month of October, so please make sure you mark your calendars! We look forward to meeting with you at our upcoming conferences!
As always, please reach out if you have any questions.
Respectfully,
Shawn Wilson
Taylor Principal
