Marysville Message
January 12th, 2024
Dear Marysville Families
I hope that everyone is able to stay warm and safe during this long weekend.
Thank you for your flexibility again as we experience another school day schedule interruption.
Thanks also for everyone that has been able to come in for a parent teacher conference. It is so important to us to be able to connect with you about your child's progress and school year experience. I apologize if your conference has had to be rescheduled. Hopefully nothing else will come up this year!
I have a few updates as we head into this snowy weekend.
Our next Golden Pawsitive Ticket Celebration will be next Thursday 1/18. We so appreciate all the work our students do to follow community expectations and to create a safe, focused learning environment.
This week we have been working on our Winter Benchmarking Assessments. We are looking forward to seeing the growth our students are making in their reading and math skills. We want students to always try to do their best on these assessments so that we have a good reflection of their learning.
- Immunization exclusion day - the state exclusion date is coming up (2/21/24). Students who are not up-to-date by 1/17/24 will receive an exclusion letter.
- If students are having a hard time getting their immunizations, parents can schedule an appointment with a student health clinic. They must be at least 5 to get their immunizations at the clinic. The website is here: https://www.multco.us/health/student-health-centers
- The MESD immunization page is a great resource for staff and parents. It can be found here: https://www.multnomahesd.org/shs-immunization.html
No School on Monday 1/15 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.
Dear community,
As we reflect on Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and legacy, it is inspiring to acknowledge the profound impact he had on the civil rights movement and the enduring principles of equality and justice.
Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to the pursuit of racial equality, advocating for civil rights through nonviolent means. His famous "I Have a Dream" speech, delivered in 1963, remains a powerful testament to his vision of a nation where individuals are judged by their character rather than the color of their skin.
Dr. King's commitment to service extended beyond his role as a civil rights leader. He emphasized the importance of community and service to others, fostering a spirit of unity and compassion. His teachings continue to inspire generations to actively participate in creating positive social change.
As we honor Martin Luther King Jr. today, let us reflect on the values of equality, justice, and service that he championed, and consider how we can contribute to a better and more inclusive society.

Oregon Health Insurance Marketplace: Enroll by Jan. 16, 2024
If you don’t qualify for the Oregon Health Plan and don’t get health insurance through your job, now through Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024 is an important time. It’s the only time of year most people can sign up for an individual or family plan to have coverage in 2024.
Get started by visiting OregonHealthCare.gov/WindowShop. This tool will allow you to preview programs, plans, and savings available to you; what plans will cover your current doctor; and how much your anticipated costs will be, including refilling your prescriptions.
The Oregon Health Insurance Marketplace helps connect Oregonians to health coverage and financial help through its federal partners at HealthCare.gov. It’s the only place where you can get financial help on monthly premiums and other out-of-pocket costs. Nearly 80 percent of Oregonians enrolled through the Marketplace in 2023 qualified for financial help – that could be you, too!
