RES Weekly Buzz

Can you believe that there is only less than one week left of this school year?!?
THANK YOU to ALL of the families who came out to attend our Second Grade "Around the World" end of year show. THANK YOU to ALL of the parents and friends who volunteered to help us man the RES Field Day stations as well. We were thrilled to see so many of you in person to share in the students' successes, and we would not be able to have such a great field day without you. Thank you to Team 2, Erin Canniff, and Darlene Trumbour for all of the planning that went into these events.
Next week will be a whirlwind with only 3 and 1/2 days of school. There will be laughs and tears from staff and students alike. Please remember that Thursday is an early release day, and we will be "Clapping Out" our 5th graders at 11:45 am that day as they finish their RES careers and move on to middle school.
We are excited to spend next week wrapping up our time together.

Grade 5 Clap Out
Hello Families!
It’s hard to believe we are almost at the end of the school year! On the last day of school, Thursday, June 15th, we will have a Fifth Grade Clap Out to celebrate our fifth graders. They will walk through the gymnasium doors and down the path toward the front of the school. We welcome you to meet us there to greet them with cheers and clapping! All 5th grade families and friends should line the pathway outside of the Wellness Center by the garden. We would love to have as many families as possible. The students should be walking out of the building around 11:45 am. They will proceed down the path and out to the front of the building.

Middle School Summer Reading Program - for Rising 6th Grade Students
Dear Fifth-Grade Students and Families:
We know it’s still May, but we are excited to reveal the book titles for RMS’s summer reading program and provide you with time to check out the titles.
After utilizing multiple sources (book lists, librarians, and staff preferences), a diverse group of titles was selected in hopes that we will engage all readers. That being said, please note that the proposed books may not be appropriate for all readers. Given the wide variety of content, themes, text complexity, format, and language usage, please support your child in making a decision that makes the most sense for your family. Fifth grade students will also meet with Ms. Fauci to explore book choices and find out about these titles.
Check out our summer reading website for more information and to view the selected books. For students entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, your child’s required reading will include one book from our Community Reading List and one book of your child’s preference.
If you need guidance, reach out to Kriisten Fauci (kfauci@rpk12.org) and/or your school and local librarians for additional information. We hope that you find a compelling read on this list.

RES Garden Volunteer Sign up
Mrs. Trumbour is still looking for volunteers for the Summer. Use the link below to sign up.
We are still looking for a few volunteers to assist with harvesting, and tasting our spring lettuce crop.
Check the sign-up for available dates and time slots. Please note that each slot is for 1 hour, and the class names are listed for those who would like to volunteer during their child's class.
We are also looking for a few more families who would be willing to look after the garden during the summer. Sign up for one or more weeks to water and weed the garden and take care of our growing fall crops.
For questions contact Darlene Trumbour (dtrumbour@rpk12.org)
Please note that all school volunteers must have a CORI check completed in the office.

Notes from the Nurse
1) If your child had medications, inhalers, and/or Epi-Pens in the health office this year, an authorized adult must pick it up by 12:00 PM on the last day of school June 15, 2023.
2) PLEASE remember to send your child in with a water bottle every single day!
3) PLEASE do not send your child to school in crocs, sandals, or flip flops. These types of shoes increase your child's risk of falls and injuries!!
Please reach out to the nurse's office with any questions at 978-546-1223.
