2024-25 School Year Updates
Early Childhood Department at Haines Next School Year
Our Early Childhood Department will be moving to a renovated Haines Center for the 2024-25 school year. This includes all of our classrooms and programming currently at Fox Ridge. Construction begins at Haines Center in March 2024. We will be sharing the Haines building with Compass Academy and construction plans include distinct, separate and secure spaces for our preschoolers and the high school students during student attendance hours.
RETURNING COMMUNITY PRESCHOOL STUDENTS 2024-25
Parents/guardians of current Community Preschool students who are not eligible for Kindergarten next school year will be emailed a form to complete regarding your intent to return by January 16.
KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS 2024-25
Children are kindergarten eligible for 2024-25 if they turn five on or before September 1, 2024. More information about the timeline for kindergarten registration will be shared with you when it has been released.
NEW COMMUNITY STUDENTS 2024-25
Information regarding our Preschool Lottery for Community Preschool at Haines Center for next school year will be posted and available on the website by January 19. This is our program for families who are paying a fee to attend preschool. Children are eligible if they are 3 years of age by September 1, 2024.
2024-25 Start & End Schedules
Hours for our next school year have been released which include a change at Early Childhood.
Boundary Webinar & New Survey - January 11
A virtual community webinar will be held on January 11 at 6 p.m. Demographer RSP & Associate will present the results of its survey that was conducted from November 28 - December 10, and provide additional concepts based on survey feedback for consideration by the Board. For those unable to attend the webinar, it will be recorded and published online.
Following the webinar, the District will distribute a new survey asking for feedback on the additional concepts. This survey will be open from January 11 at 6:30 p.m. through January 15 at 12 p.m. The survey will be published on the boundary updates website and communications platforms, and direct notifications will be sent to families. Please note, the new survey will include additional concepts that may impact families that were not impacted from the original concepts presented in November.
Abriendo Puertas / Opening Doors
Abriendo Puertas / Opening Doors is an evidenced-based leadership training program for parents and caregivers of 0-5 year old children. Designed to honor and support you with information and home activities during the early stages of your child's development, your child's ability to reach the goals and dreams you have for them will be greatly enhanced.
English and Spanish groups are starting in January and are offered for FREE in partnership with Fox Valley United Way, SPARK Early Childhood Collaboration, and Kane County All Our Kids Network. English sessions are facilitated by Tricia Sabathne, Child and Family Educator (CAFE) at Fox Ridge, and are in person with child care and snacks provided. Spanish sessions are facilitated by Adrianna Casillas, Family Resource Specialist for SPARK Early Childhood Collaboration, via Zoom.
We'd love for you to join us! Please share this information widely with other people you know with young children.
Toy Lending Library
Our Toy Lending Library has new selections in its catalog, including many more games. Check it out!
Dress for the Weather
Outdoor play continues throughout all the seasons at Fox Ridge, weather permitting, and is an important part of our curriculum. Classrooms go outside as long as conditions are safe to do so and the temperature, including wind-chill, is above 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Please be sure your preschooler has clothes appropriate for outdoor play daily. If weather prohibits outdoor play (e.g., raining, too cold, or hazardous conditions like ice present) classrooms use one of our indoor motor areas. If you are in need of a warmer coat for your child please contact Tricia Sabathne, Child and Family Educator, at tricia.sabathne@d303.org
Even if your child has another year (or more!) before going to kindergarten, "This 2024 Getting Ready for Kindergarten- Family Activity Calendar" is for you! Designed for any child 5 and under who is not yet in kindergarten, and full of ideas and resource to help maximize experiences at home and out in the community to help your children thrive now and in the years to come.
This Family Activity Calendar contains daily activities to support school readiness. Children develop at their own rate! It's up to you how to use this calendar. Tips can be done in any order. Each month has a list of recommended books, tips, and videos in addition to the daily tips.
Each child who attends Fox Ridge for preschool or walk-in speech should have received a copy of this calendar before Winter Break. If your child is just now starting with us a copy will be sent home shortly. Digital copies are also available - click on the picture of the calendar.
