Wrightsboro Family Newsletter
Welcome to the 23-24 School Year
Principal Welcome Message
Dear Wrightsboro Families,
I am delighted to be part of the Wrightsboro Elementary School family. It is with great pleasure and a sense of honor that I join this community and I am excited to begin this journey of collaboration, growth, and excellence alongside you and your children. I am also thrilled to have the talent and expertise of our new assistant principal, Kendra Harrison.
As your principal, my goal is to ensure a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I strongly believe in building strong partnerships with families and the community, as we all play an integral role in the success of our students. I encourage open lines of communication and collaboration between parents, teachers, and students, as we work together to nurture a love for learning and achieve educational excellence.
I am fortunate to be joining a dedicated team of educators and staff who share the same commitment to our student's success. Together, we will strive to create a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes respect, empathy, and a growth mindset.
I am genuinely excited to embark on this journey together, and I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you. Let us work hand in hand to create a positive and enriching educational experience for your child at Wrightsboro Elementary School.
Warmest regards,
Michelle Faison
Principal

Bus Transportation
The current school year bus requests will roll over into the new school year, and community stops will continue to be assigned. If your child‘s current home address and school remain the same for the 2023-2024 school year, there is nothing additional you need to do. However, if your child requires a new community bus stop or you’re assigned to a stop as an exception, families must make transportation requests at least three weeks before the first day of school to ensure their child will have transportation. Families can contact their school's main office to request a bus stop. The deadline dates for new requests are below:
August 7, 2023 - Traditional Schools
August 15, 2023 - Pre K
Bus stop requests made after the deadline will not be processed until after the first two weeks of school. This will help ensure that route assignments are accurate and efficient, eliminating double and triple trips on the first day and first week of school. Therefore, we encourage you to request a Bus Pass for your child as soon as possible if you know there will be a change.
These updates will help make transportation to and from school smoother for everyone. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us or visit the transportation division website.
We'll have representatives at Open House to answer questions & provide information on how to download the Edulog Parent Portal App to track the bus, and where to find transportation forms.
Please note our new email address for routing concerns: BusRouting@nhcs.net.
Find Bus Route and Track the Bus!
New Hanover County Schools uses the Edulog Parent Portal smartphone app that allows parents to see where their child's bus is located in real-time. Edulog Parent Portal app can be downloaded from iTunes App Store or Google Play Store. Have your student's ID (same as cafeteria number) ready before downloading the app.

Required Beginning of Year Paperwork
Beginning of year paperwork is required for returning NHCS families and must be completed online. The beginning of the year application is now available at this link. This application is important to ensure we have accurate parent/guardian contact information.
Also, having emergency contact information on the first day of school is pivotal. We greatly appreciate your efforts in completing this information prior to the first day of school.
If you have moved or will be moving out of the Wrightsboro district before the beginning of the school year, please contact Sandra Barefoot (data manager) at sandra.barefoot@nhcs.net
Open House
Please join us on Open House Night between 4:00-6:00pm.

Please be sure to stop by the Block Party at Wrightsboro Baptist after you meet your teachers for some music, food, and fun! We are so grateful for their partnership and the amazing event they have put together to welcome back our Cool Cat Families!
We can't wait to see everyone!!
NHCS: Coffee, Curriculum, Collaboration, and Conversation Event
We are thrilled to partner with parents in our community to inform them about the excellent core curriculum resources that we provide in New Hanover County Schools along with our new implementation Xello. Xello is a software that supports students in career choices and parents with monitoring their child's graduation progress. Additionally, our event will feature representation from our special education curriculum specialists, child nutrition, transportation, CTE, technology, and school safety who will be available to assist parents and answer questions they may have. Families can benefit from Spanish translation services at all three sessions.
