I am so excited about this coming school year and hope that you have been enjoying your summer! As always, we have been busy this summer preparing for the upcoming year. We are very excited to start the 2022-23 school year! If you are returning to Vogel this year, welcome back! If you are new to our school, we are thrilled that you will be a Vogel Texan this year! We are honored to serve this community, and we can’t wait to start another great year with all of our Texans! Please know that our doors are always open, and we strive for open communication between the home and school.

Please join us for our Meet the Teacher Event on Friday, August 5th. It's a come and go staggered event. 5th grade students and families come between 4:30pm-5:30pm while 6th grade students and families come between 5:30pm-6:30pm. We will have Chick-fil-A, sno-cones, and school t-shirts for purchase.

Homeroom teachers will notify all families by Wednesday, August 3th before the end of the school day. You will receive an email from your child's homeroom teacher welcoming your child to their Learning Community.

Parents will be able to utilize Oak Ridge Transportation Center's parking lot. Signs will be posted to assist parents in finding the entrance to this lot, which is just to the west of the back parking lot entrance of Vogel.

You should have received an email from "NoReplyConroeISD" with the subject line "Verification of Student Registration" on the week of July 4th. You will need to complete the online forms before our Meet the Teacher event on Friday, August 5th. If you have not completed the forms, you will be asked to complete them before heading back to meet your child's teacher. If you have moved you will be asked to submit a new proof of residency. You can email terodriguez@conroeisd.net any current electric, water, or gas bill in the parent/guardian's name to prove your residency. Please call the school if you have questions.

Parking: Are you planning on taking a picture of your child outside of Vogel on the morning of August 10th? Parents may park in the front or back lot of the school. Additional parking will be available where we normally line up for car riders. The Vogel car rider line entrance is located next to the entrance of the Transportation Department and signs will be in place to assist you in finding the entrance. Parents will be allowed to park in the right lane only. Please leave the left lane open for those arriving or departing. We will have CISD police on duty during our morning arrival and afternoon dismissal to help the traffic flow smoothly.

Walking students to class: Parents are welcome to come inside on the first day and walk their child to class. Visitor stickers will be handed out upon entry of the building. Please ensure the sticker is visibly worn on your clothing while inside our building.

All cars coming from Hanna or Maplewood all access the car rider line near the transportation building. There is no left or right turn into the school drive when traveling on Geffert Wright. All cars entering the drive must cross over Geffert Wright from car rider line across the street from the school. Please refer to picture below.

The most frequently asked question we get at the beginning of the year is how can I help my child be successful in intermediate school. The transition to intermediate can be challenging for some kiddos. The best thing a parent can do to support their child is to help them build organizational systems. Some students have trouble juggling the increased number of teachers and assignments. Help your child get into the routine of checking for work inside their flexi-folder every night. Look at graded assignments that are sent home to see if there are concepts your child is struggling to master. And sign up for a Parent Access account to monitor your child's grades. If you see zeros or "Z"s in the gradebook, it means that your child has not turned in their assignment. Encourage them to complete the work and turn it in. It's never too late to turn work in or too early to start building good study habits. If you don't have a Parent Access account CLICK HERE to register. We're close to the start of the 2022-23 school year! Your school nurses wanted to remind you of a few things we'll need before the first day of school so that we can keep all students healthy, safe, and ready to learn :)

• If your child has a life-threatening health condition (Asthma, Severe Allergy requiring an Epi-pen, Seizure, Diabetes) please be sure to bring in your child's care plan and medication to the school clinic before the first day of school.
• Please provide the clinic with updated immunization records throughout the school year. Remember 6th graders need to have their Tdap and MCV4 vaccines before 7th grade.
• If your child will require medications at school, we must have medication forms signed by the parent/guardian and medication in the original container before we can administer medication at school.
