Stars Football Family -

On the eve of our journey as a football family, I want to take this time to say thank you. The fall is a magical time, and football is a special sport. We will see the power of a shared mission, vision, and purpose in the coming weeks. The games will come and go. If this year is like any of the previous 22 I have coached, each day seems to go faster than the next. Once this ball gets rolling, there is truly no stopping it. I encourage us all to try and enjoy the moments. All of them! One promise we make to our players is that adversity will hit the moment contact is made. Inevitably, the game of football will challenge us for many reasons. This is why we prepare so diligently over the summer. Physically, mentally, technically, and tactically we must be elite. Every conversation, every decision, and every choice must be toward the shared purpose. I hope we can all buy into this ideology and create an ecosystem for our players that supports them with positivity, love, and understanding. These boys are special. On any given day, Monday through Saturday, they are testing their talents against each of their peers, trying to answer the internal question of "Am I for real?" This can be a lot of pressure on a young man, and our kids should be applauded daily for taking this risk. I am humbled to be a part of this program and its journey. I aim to be the best version of my safe every time I step into the building. Honestly, I am not perfect, and I fail, sometimes miserably. However, you have my word that I will always put your children in the front of our program and give them the very best of myself. Our staff is ready to bring another championship to this school, and I know you are too! Let's all get ready to level and take the next step on our journey to elite

Sooooo....we have a few things going on this week! Some say busy; I say a world of opportunities. The start of football and getting the kids back to school can be a little overwhelming. We hope you can find some time this Saturday, Aug 13th, from 10:30-2:00 pm to join us in our 5th Annual Stars Football Family Day. A great chance to unwind, connect and learn a little about our football family. Our SCN 4th Phase and Cover 4 Group have created an excellent program for the entire day. It all starts with our Mom's Camp and Bag's Tournament running simultaneously from 10:30-11:45 am. Followed by lunch as a group and then culminating with our mandatory player/parent meeting from 12:30-1:30. In this meeting, we will cover season details, staff introductions, and essential details regarding the season and the administrative requirements for participation by our athletics and medical staffs. We do ask that at least one parent/guardian and their player attend the meeting. The rest is up to you! Hope to see you there.

SCN Football Lift-A-Thon Fundraiser

As our fundraising window comes to a close, I want to say thank you for all of your efforts to help build our program. Our final push is coming this week and we will be culminating with one of our most traditional events, the Stars Lift A Thon! If you have never been a part of a lift a thon I encourage you to attend and see what a great environment we have built in our sports performance center (weight room).

We will be making one final push for funds over this last week and encourage you to encourage your son to email, text, tweet the link out to their family and friends. We are so close to our goal of 12,000 dollars it would be great to exceed that and hit our new goal of 15,000.

8 weeks of challenges, platoon outings, and total commitment concluded the NIU mini camp. This year's EYS Challenge was easily the best in my ten years as the head coach. Our platoon leaders and privates did a fantastic job preparing and investing in each other. Not a day passed without a platoon doing something extra for their unit. The goal of our EYS challenge is to get our players to connect. We want them to learn that great units are not built by competence but more by their connection with each other. We also want our players to learn that everything is earned and nothing is given in our program. Each player has to earn 50 points to get their stripe on their helmet. This year's group all received their stripe on the final day of the summer camp before the scrimmage. We talked about what it means to put the black, blue, and silver on the top of the helmet. It is special; they are special!

While the race was tight, there was one clear-cut winner! Congratulations to the Lemon Peppa Steppa's and Drew Surges (Platoon Leader). They won with a dedicated consistency to excellence and held on just long enough to claim the title. They will get their warm-ups paid for by the program.

Other congratulations to Ethan Plumb, who led the entire program in platoon points. As a staff sergeant, Ethan was second in command but showed his own personal leadership by eclipsing over 100 points in just 8 weeks! He will also get this warm-up paid for.

A huge thank you to all our parents attending Village Squire's social! What a fantastic time, with some great people. Thank you to Danielle and Lance for making this event a huge success and one that we will undoubtedly be making a part of the yearly calendar.

The weather was hot and sunny, but the kids never relented and gave an ELITE effort every day! The future is bright for many years to come!

2. Make sure to have an up-to-date physical on file with the school

For incoming freshmen, the registration physical will be sufficient.
