I hope everyone has a wonderful Winter Break! Our groups have been working hard and seeing growth. A week after break, we will start our Winter benchmark tests (NWEA MAPS, DIBELS, and CORE PHONICS SURVEY). The assessments will provide a valuable insight into our students academic progress and areas that may need additional support. It's important to use a variety of assessments to gain a comprehensive understanding of student's skills and identify any potential gaps in their learning.

CORE Phonics Survey is a battery of assessments determining student understanding of key phonics categories in kindergarten through fifth grade. Assessments are administered to students one-on-one, four times per year to monitor student growth, guide instruction, and target underdeveloped areas in student learning.

Areas assessed are determined by grade level and include:

• Uppercase letters
• Lowercase letters
• Vowels
• Vowel Sounds
• Blending of letters
• High Frequency Words
• Sentence Segmentation
• Words into Syllables
• Words into Phonemes
