6th Grade TDAP Reminder!
Dear Parents:
Who?
- State law now requires a Pertussis (Tdap) booster after the age of 7 and 2 Varicella immunizations for ALL students entering the 7th grade
Where can my child get this vaccine?
- Any pharmacy
- Your own medical provider
- San Joaquin County Public Health Department
What else do I need to do?
- Provide documentation to your school’s office by May 1, 2023.
- Your child’s name will NOT be on a class list for school year 2023-2024 until the school receives documentation of this required vaccine.
- Children who do not provide proof of vaccine, will be excluded from school for the 2023-2024 school year in accordance to California State Law.
What if my child is unable to take this vaccine for medical reasons?
SB277 allows for Medical waivers be obtained from your medical provider only. The waiver must include condition prohibiting immunizations, which vaccine is being exempted, whether the medical exemption is permanent or temporary, and the expiration date if the exemption is temporary. If you have questions on this exemption, please call MUSD Health Services at 209-858-0782.
Students that are on a current personal exemption will no longer be exempt from the California mandate that all students must be immunized to be in school. Students with personal exemptions, must start their immunization series, and maintain being compliant in the series to continue to participate in a public school. Students with personal exemptions that are not compliant by the first day of the 2023/2024 school year, will be exempt from school until a medical provided exemption, OR, an immunization record showing all immunizations are currently compliant is received.
