WORKSHOP-Understanding and Teaching Children Affected by Poverty
Registration - HERE
Build a deeper understanding of the needs of children and families affected by poverty. Poverty is not merely a financial situation, but also includes emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical aspects. We will examine the critical role that support systems, resources, relationships, and role models play as intervening factors.
The workshop is presented by Dr. Krista Leh, founder of Resonance Ed. Her areas of specialty include: Social Emotional Learning, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Curriculum Design & Development

SEL RESOURCE HIGHLIGHT: Stress, Trauma, and the Brain
Stress, Trauma, and the Brain Video Series
In this series of conversations, Dr. Bruce Perry explores the impact of stress and trauma on the brain, and the resulting effect on learning.
His teachings have helped schools significantly decrease behavior problems and create safe learning environments. Each short video includes discussion questions that could be used for professional learning with school staff.

Other Information from ROE 53
Educators will receive a reminder email from ISBE when it is time to renew their license. To renew, educators can log into their ELIS account starting April 1 of the year their license expires. Click the “Helpful Renewal Resources” dropdown on the ISBE page for step-by-step renewal instructions.
If your license requires professional development hours and/or Administrator Academies hours and the renewal option is not available, make sure all hours are met and entered on your Professional Development tab and adjust your employment status accordingly, if needed. Click How Do I Update My Employment Status for step-by-step instructions. You will not be able to renew until all PD/AA requirements are met.
ROE 53 Cohorts
Technology Roundtable: ROE 53 partners with LTC and meets monthly to brainstorm, troubleshoot, and share information. The next meeting is March 10. The Dell Tech Rally will be providing a showcase of their products for us to learn more about. All are welcome! Learn more and register here!
