Week in Review
Good times at Fletcher were not in short supply this short week. We started out with VAPA on Monday and closed with three incredible theatrical performances of "Tacky the Penguin" and "Three Cheers for Tacky" by our 1st and 2nd graders. Our staff also participated in their last professional learning session of the year at Juarez Elementary School. It was a celebration of all the hard work we've done learning about Restorative Practices. The results are in the numbers. Suspendable incidents are down 50% year over year and discipline incidents are down 27% year over year. More time in class = more time learning.
"I think the theatre
is as essential to civilization
as safe, pure water."
-Vanessa Redgrave

Did you miss the chance to see our 1st and 2nd graders perform on Wednesday? Not to worry. Both performances were recorded! Check them out below 👇
Online LCFF Forms Available Now
Each year the district is responsible for collecting information from our students’ families to support the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) process. The LCFF is hallmark legislation that fundamentally changed how all local educational agencies (LEAs) in the state are funded, how they are measured for results, and the services and supports they receive to allow all students to succeed to their greatest potential.
We are collecting information now and it will be applied to the 2023 – 24 school year. We believe that starting now will reduce the burden of collecting information during the busy time of opening school in the fall and will potentially yield more complete information that will increase the amount of funding that schools and the district receive from the state.
We are starting with our online system accessed through the Parent Portal in PowerSchool. In the portal, we ask parents and families to complete a very short questionnaire that increases the district’s opportunity to receive funds from the state. The information is kept confidential and only used for allowed purposes.
Please complete the form in Parent Portal as soon as possible. If you do not have a Parent Portal account, please contact your school to set one up. (Note: some schools do not yet have Parent Portal available.) Paper survey forms will be available later this spring. By completing the survey, you will not only be supporting the district’s efforts, but increasing the chances of your child’s school receiving more of this valuable funding.

Student of the Week
This week's Student of the Week is Emily in Ms. Yamashita's Kindergarten class. Emily has been an excellent role model and an academic all-star in kindergarten. To Emily, kindness matters. Emily volunteers to take students to the nurse’s office when they are not feeling well. She is very patient, too. Emily translates for a peer who is learning English. Emily’s confidence grew as she learned to read. Emily looks forward to “reading buddies” each week. Her older brother, Damian, is her reading buddy. At the end of each session, Damian, shares how proud he is of her reading. Emily excels in math. She is able to problem solve addition and subtraction problems with the missing addend. Her STEAM projects are beautifully constructed. She uses imagination and creativity, every step of the way. At recess, you can find Emily playing soccer with her peers. She passes the ball to her peers and gives them an opportunity to kick. Emily displays good sportsmanship. Well done, Emily! Thank you for being a phenomenal Falcon!
