Principal's Message
Our 6th graders are off on a field trip to Hawk Mountain this coming Tuesday and Wednesday. Please follow the guidelines provided to our students that include bringing a packed lunch on your specific day (half will attend on Tuesday and half on Wednesday). Our 7th and 8th grade field trips will take place in May and information on these events will be provided later in the year.

Bi-Annual PAYS Survey
On Thursday, November 9, our 6th and 8th graders will be participating in the bi-annual PAYS survey. This survey provides anonymous valuable information in our efforts to promote and protect healthy and safe choices of our students. Parents/Guardians are asked to view the video below as well as click HERE to learn more information as well as procedures to opt your child out of taking this survey if you choose. Red Ribbon Week
The week of October 23 – 27 is Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week’s mission is to help keep kids drug-free. Red Ribbon Week will culminate in a district-wide “Red Out” on Friday, October 27th. We hope to see everyone wearing red!
Fall Sports Updates
Field Hockey
8th grade - On 10/13, the 8th grade field hockey team defeated Spring Ford by a score of 4 to 0. The team stayed focused and determined the entire game to defeat a tough opponent. On 10/18, the 8th grade field hockey team defeated PV East, 5 to 0. All of East's players worked hard to contribute to the team's victory.
7th grade - On 10/13, the 7th grade field hockey team defeated Spring Ford, 1 to 0. In a back and forth contest, East was able to tuck away the game winner with 1 minute left on the clock. On 10/18, East's 7th grade field hockey team defeated Perk Valley by a score of 4 to 0. All players contributed to this dominant win.
Football
8th grade - On 10/17, the Boyertown 8th Grade Football Team showed grit, pride, and determination in the 4th quarter of yesterday’s game, scoring 14 unanswered points to tie Upper Perkiomen 14-14. Roman Kerkusz connected on a touchdown pass to Jackson Koback as time expired to bring the Bears within 2 points of the Indians. The Bears tied the score on an untimed down when Jackson Koback crossed the goal line on a 2-point conversion to close out the game. Kerkusz threw another touchdown pass to Jackson DiGrazia earlier in the 4th quarter to put the team's first points on the board. The touchdown was set up by a long run by Jake Stanchak. Andrew Rizzo and Jackson Koback led the team with 3 receptions each. Gavin Foose and Jacob Nichter each contributed with a catch as well. Defensively, the Bears played tough defense in the second half. Griffin Kaczerski led the team in tackles and recovered a fumble. Dean Mitchell had 2 quarterback sacks, while Jackson DiGrazia and Landon Nelson each had a tackle for a loss. On special teams, Landon Nelson blocked a punt late in the game to give the team great field position on the Bears final possession. The team will play Arcola at home next Tuesday. Please come out, show your support, and be the 12th man for your Boyertown 8th Grade Football Team.
7th grade - On 10/18, the 7th grade football shutout Upper Merion 8 to 0. Jackson Rose led the way with 2 interceptions, a forced fumble and a rushing TD. Liam Harner connected with Michael Weber on a 2 point conversion.
Boys Soccer
8th grade - On 10/16, defeated PV East, 2 to 0. It was a great team effort in the victory. On 10/18, defeated Pottstown, 6 to 0. The victory was a total team effort.
Girls Soccer
8th grade - On 10/12, lost to Spring Ford 6 to 0. The girls gave their best effort in loss. On 10/16, lost to PV East. 2 to 0. East had many scoring opportunities but could not capitalize on them. On 10/18, defeated Pottstown, 7 to 0. The team was able to assist on many goals. On 10/19, defeated West, 5 to 0. The team played well and participated in a pink out.
7th grade - On 10/12, lost to Spring Ford 6 to 0. The girls gave their best effort in loss. On 10/16, defeated PV East, 1 to 0. Ava Hubley scored MSE’s goal.
November School Dance
The Student Council is planning a Neon Dance on Friday, November 10th. All students attending the dance MUST pre-pay for the dance during lunch. Students will not be permitted to pay when they get to the dance. Dates for paying during lunch and additional details will be coming soon.
Winter Sports Information
On Wednesday, October 25th, during 10th period, we will have our winter sports meetings for 7th and 8th graders interested in trying out or signing up for a winter sport's team. Please refer to the email you received from our athletic department with that information that is copied below for your review:
Registration for winter athletics for students in grades 7-12 is currently open. Please visit boyertownathletics.com or login to your student central/big teams account (if you registered for a fall sport).
- If you registered for a fall sport, please make sure you indicate which winter sport you are participating in and fill out any recertification forms. Parents and students must log into your account and sign/initial the forms.
- Please make sure your student-athlete is enrolled at the proper school (do not list as an additional school) This is located on the “forms” page in your account at the top.
- To check the status of submitted forms, go to the bottom of the forms page
If you did not register for a fall sport, please complete all forms in the registration. Physicals must be dated after 6/1/2023.
A new form has been added to the registration “St. Luke’s Consent to Treat." This form is giving athletic trainers who are employed by St. Luke's the ability to treat your student-athlete. Even if you completed your registration before 10/11/23, please sign back in and complete this form.

Library Updates
Library Fundraiser
West currently has 186 votes and East has 141.
The LiBEARian latte fundraiser at Breakman’s Cafe ends on October 31. Remember that Breakman’s will donate a dollar from every li-BEAR-ian latte purchased to one of the middle school libraries. Vote East! Mrs. Mento plans to buy more Rubik’s cubes for the library.
Library Happenings
The library has checked out 5,785 books and other items since the school year started. This month’s Loud in the Library events included board games, a speed cube competition, and yarn crafts. On Wednesday, October 25, the library will have open play chess.

No Late Fees
The library does not have late fees this year; however, students still need to return books that they check out from the library. Parents will receive and email when books are 30 days overdue. If your student loses a library book or other item, please contact Mrs. Mento for information on how to replace or pay for the lost item.
Student Created Library Display
Students created a Taylor Swift window display to correspond with the release of the new movie. The books in the display represent her albums.
